Now most of us are at home for the foreseeable future, are there any online games that can be played between two people at different locations.

From chess to shooters, anything to keep interest for family and friends.

Can be ios, android or windows.

I've gone back to red dead 2 story mode and just dossing around the huge empty landscape. Quite peaceful and occasionally someone looks at me funny then it gets real.

Keep Talking and Nobody Explodes

One person, the defuser, has the game.

The other person, the expert, uses the bomb manual via the internet.

Object is to defuse the bomb.

Available on Steam, iOS and Android. The virtual version is the bomb. Pun intended.

Currently half price (£5.50) on Steam, well worth it.

For anyone wanting to play some multiplayer shiz this is another opportunity to spam our relevant gamer passes. If need be we could set up a Discord server.

Squirrelking666 on Xbox
Squirrelking on Steam

Download Steam on your PCs.
Filter the library for both 'online multiplayer' and 'online co-op' and then take your pick. You can study by user feedback and the to rated ones are usually excellent.

Tonnes of games on their that aren't graphically intensive so you don't need a powerful setup.

Couple of free ones to check out:
Brawlhalla - Smash Bros clone
ExpendaBros - A BroForce spin off for the Expendables film. It's a great side scrolling shooter.

Not played it yet as only just seen it but PlanetSide 2 looks awesome. Free too.

Other than that and whilst not multiplayer I’m working through a load of games I’ve never quite got round to; FEAR, Bioshock, Dishonoured etc.

I'm a Planetside 2 vet, dunno what the latest revamp is like but 2 years was enough after player numbers dwindled due to meta game being a case of "throw stuff and see what sticks". The lead strategist (def not a Dev) was more interested in things he wanted to see rather than what the player base wanted.

If you want to have a go I'd recommend going as TR, VS is easy mode and too many fannies whilst NC is a slog with the biggest hit boxes known to man. Its better played as an outfit, if you end up in Miller (my old server) look up BRTD, they were a competing (opposing) outfit and a good bunch of guys, a few of us ended up changing sides and teamed up with them when our outfit died.

Also, unless you are a good shooter I'd invest in a support class as that's the easiest and fastest way to generate certs. Medic is probably better, when I was playing the res tool and res grenades / shield were the preferred options. Engineers have repair tools and ammo packs. Both these classes are indispensable in biolab fights. Lot of good times in that game, when I get a new PC I'll probably give it another go.

Rocket League, you could do 1v1; team up for 2v2; or team up as part of a 3v3 or 4v4 team.

No idea if it's any good or not, but "Between Two Castles" is free on Steam from 5pm today.

Just buy Doom Eternal like I did and you'll enjoy lying quietly in a dark room whilst your brain cools down (damn those Pinkies).

Apex Legends is a brilliant free to play online shooter if your twitch reflexes feel up to it.

The micropayments are cosmetic only and pretty unobtrusive, the game runs really well and the genius ping system means you can coordinate with your teammates having to converse with any mouth breathing teenagers.

The flood of new lockdown players means that the average skill level has dropped noticeably as well, making it much more newbie friendly than it has been of late.

World of Tanks, and its sequel World of Warships, is free MP goodness. They're MMO shooters, only with a pace more suitable for us old people rather than test-pilot-reactions 14-year olds. PC and consoles.

Any true cross platform online mulitiplayer?

I've only got rocket league so far that looks fun, my mate has xbox and I have PC.

We'll try it out at the weekend but any other cross platform games would be appreciated.

Downloaded the Halo Masterchief collection from Steam for a nostalgia trip, played through Halo, went to start Halo 2, and discovered that all the subsequent games aren't out on PC yet, despite being listed on the Steam ad. That was 30 quid well spent for lockdown entertainment 🙁

Ooh ooh ooh mememe!

Me and a couple of Friends are currently playing a combination of the following of an evening

IL2 Sturmovik Battle of Stalingrad/Kuban/etc - I'm a flightsim geek, so I pilot a big ol bomber and they play as gunners in said bomber, it's remarkably chilled out, until it isn't and then it really isn't

Human Fall Flat - A co-op lucid dream puzzle game, massivley fun and massively frustrating, often within seconds of eachother

Deep Rock Galactic - Space Dwarf Mining Co-Op FPS Mayhem

War Thunder - Free to play, like a slightly less arcadey World of WarX

World War Z is currently free on the Epic games launcher.

4 person co-op in the same vein as left4dead

I think I should give my a World of Tanks login away.

I found myself losing hours of my life and went cold turkey.

Fallout76 still gets my attention when out of office hours. If not that, then Civilisation 4, 5 or 6.

I really want to try Elite: Dangerous, but do not have VR and do not want to sacrifice what remains of my human interaction at night.

Risk is free to play and somewhat cross-platform. I played a game with friends on a mix of pc and mobile last night, takes about 2 hours instead of 2 days when the computer handles all the dice rolling and stuff
