En-masse in-law organised holidays here next week. As well as walking gear, do I pack the bikes or boats?
Bikes - suggest me some local routes, add Google-fu is escaping me.
Boats - I remember some rather exciting surfing days and big sea trips at university. Possibly beyond open canoes, apart from Menai straights?
We had a summer holiday based around the Optimist Nationals in Pwllheli last summer. Lots of little roads for cycling, reminiscent of Cornwall in places. Easy enough to make a longer ride into Snowdonia. There are probably bits of MTB but more old skool XC I should think.
Boats? What little I know about it, they seemed to have a good time. There were surfers in Hells Mouth and around who seemed to be enjoying themselves too.
Menai Strait - singular, there is only one.
Heading to criccieth in July, advice welcome
I've taken a canoe and kayak along the menai strait, and sea kayaked around the coast of anglesey and both were good trips. If you've access to sea kayaks then Id definitely say boats if you're talking canoe then I'd be less certain and would marginally favour the bikes if you've only room for one or the other.
I'd be inclined to say boats whatever, certainly if you have sea boats. The Vikings good but the boating is better. Youdbe rally ulucky not to be able to get out somewhere on the peninsula unless the winds crazy strong.
