And now here she is grifting away for a stance that, taken to its ultimate conclusion, will see the Tories legalise drugs.

That's the thing, I was desperately hoping an interviewer might ask her about her stance WRT legalised Heroin or Cocaine this morning.

Not been able to listen to all of her doing the meeja rounds today, but has anyone challenged her new found libertarianism with that (rather obvious) line yet?

That doesn't seem to to stack up.   The evidence is that her Dad is Maths professor, she claims to be fascinated with numbers yet doesn't really understand the economy. She went to a fancy school in Leeds, then did PPE at Oxford - most of the senior MPs across the house do PPE at Oxford. It's like the gateway into Parliament for middle-class entitled twerps who think they are born to rule the rest of us, yet they're not that intelligent.

The best thing about Truss V2.0 is that its clear she's got some serious right-wing finacial backing and probably had some eye wateringly expensive coaching sessions, and she's still completely shit

An Oxford PPE does however create a whole different world of entitlement and opportunity based on “establishment momentum” rather then merit, that is clearly an alien world to most of us inhabit.

Corrected that for you, having seen the inside of that bubble for the last 3 years.

Whoa there. Won't happen until Big Weed is pumping the money into Tufton Street and the Conservative Party.

Regression to the mean. Having two bright parents does not guarantee a bright kid. Getting into Oxford to do PPE is not out of reach for a mediocre pupil with the right schooling and preparation.

Imagine how dim she must be to end up like this, despite having brainy parents on tap and a vastly superior education?

I know a couple of PPE Oxford people who are perfectly normal and not entitled.

The established route of awfully frightfully posh grammar, then PPE, then politics is sadly representative of many MPs

She really is a different person from what she once was or at least, she hid it well in her Libdem and earlier Tory years.

From the cheese speech to the restrained though deluded performance she now gives must have cost a packet, as you say.

I also agree about the backers. If she was a kid she'd be getting the parental lecture about "hanging around with the wrong crowd" and are they really your friends?"

"I think firstly we have many recent examples that an oxbridge education, especially a PPE, doesn’t signify brilliance or any special dedication, work ethic or intelligence."

Tell me you didn't get into Oxbridge without etc etc...

But seriously: OK, that may be true. She's a provincial outsider that achieves nothing special in your eyes. Painting her as "London elite" is even more misleading in that case.

I find this actually quite horrible. She along with her daft acolytes almost crashed the economy and continue to cause a huge percentage of the country financial harm through increased mortgage payments if not more.  That she is not treated as a pariah sickens me TBH

If you listen to her pathetic excuses on that Newscast interview for what happened when she drove the economy off a cliff, it’s glaringly apparent what a clueless halfwit she actually is

Its hardly a ringing endorsement of Oxbridge PPE graduates and the rest of Westminster has many many more examples of the same dysfunctional establishment sausage machine, not least her equally brain dead sidekick Kamikwasi

Who went into some specialised accounting jobs directly after Oxford. Bean counters have no business managing things, they should be used as advisers. (Spoiler I work for a management accountant but he's a rare breed who listens to advice and knows his limitations, Ms Truss is not such a person).

It’s telling that if you look on Twitter there are actual quotes and there are piss-take parody quotes, but it’s virtually impossible to distinguish them from one another, so ludicrous are her ‘accidental Partridge’ statements

The publishers are well aware that she’s a laughable figure in this country to all but a small band of swivel-eyed loons, so the book won’t sell at all here. We’ve all had quite enough of her shit

It  is aimed squarely at the US market, which is full of fat right/MAGA nutjobs who lap this shit up. They’re the few people stupid enough to believe her conspiracy theory nonsense

She stood on a platform with Steve Bannon while he praised Tommy Robinson for a very good reason. That is the market for her latest grift

Do you remember the hullaballoo when Jacob R-M wrote that book about notable Victorians and he'd included just the one woman in the whole thing? My wife's party piece is that she writes v dry academic works, and her last book has consistently outsold his pile of rubbish.

I doubt Liz's book is going to be a massive hit just because we're talking about it.

She's also betting that the UK, with the help of a slow and constant poisoning of the media landscape by the "think tanks" she's in contact with, will be closer to the USA in 5 or 10 years time as regards public politics than it is now. She's not old... she could have a very long public grifting career here in the UK if she plays it right. This book can sell bugger all and she can still get paid in the long run.

On the contrary. They’ll all absolutely love her narrative that she was ‘brought down by lefties’

That’s what Trump has been (highly successfully) selling them for years

Its laughable over here, especially as it’s the Bank of England etc who she’s accusing of being socialists, but she knows full well that they lap that tinfoil-helmeted claptrap up over there

I have said this before and I think it rings true.  On top of being a “swivel-eyed loon” and thick as mince or a “Boxing Day turd” (C) Binners.  She always strikes me as the kind of person who was desperate to be popular at school in the sixth form - but never quite was.

"she could have a very long public grifting career here in the UK if she plays it right."

I don't think that's right. Apart from Nigel Farage (the original and best), no-one has made a go of it in the UK. The populist grifter market is so.unstable. The problem is that there's always someone more loopy and cheaper than you. Laurence Fox, Russell Brand, Dan Wootton...they're all scrabbling around for the dregs of online audiences.

Obviously in the US you have to admit that Trump is a master. But apart from him and Alex Jones - think of how many others even in Trump's orbit have come and gone, the bubble burst.

Also, the point about pandering to US wingnuts is not because she'll sell a lot of books. It's that these shadowy Koch-funded organisations have plenty of money to chuck around for speakers...and besides, who else is going to buy the advice of the unambiguously worst Prime Minister ever? It's the only market remaining.

Indeed! Boris Johnson was exactly the same.

They’re so shallow and vacuous that they desperately seek affirmation. Yet they consistently miss, or more likely dismiss out-of-hand the most effective way of doing this … by being a decent human being. Neither of them had much interest in that.

One of Johnson’s aides said about him that he had no actual friends and that was because the more you got to know him, the less you liked him. I expect Truss is much the same

I think Kelvin has it here. For being so useless, Truss remains an astonishingly well-backed outrider for certain wealthy American interests on the economically laissez-faire\libertarian end of the spectrum. For them, her only mistake was pulling the pin on that budget before the country was ready, and even then, there'll have been lessons learned there.

This whole nonsense about unelected people is actually quite dangerous - it's building on the "we've had enough of experts" narrative from Brexit and giving people the idea that anyone in any position of power needs to be elected.

Yet another one from the populist playbook.

Some unelected people, exercising their power...

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-67843755

Britain's shortest-serving prime minister Liz Truss has unveiled her resignation honours list, sparking an angry backlash from some critics.

Ms Truss, who spent 49 days in office, nominated Conservative donor Jon Moynihan and ex-Vote Leave chief Matthew Elliott for seats in the Lords.

Ruth Porter, a former senior Truss aide, is also made a peer.

Willie Sullivan, senior director for campaigns at the Electoral Reform Society, said: "It will feel like an insult to many to see Liz Truss handing out peerages to friends and supporters after her disastrously short stint as prime minister.

"It looks like the political class dishing out rewards for failure at a time when many people are still suffering the effects from her turbulent premiership."

I'm the opposite, I actually want to watch her as I've actually avoided her book launch madness other than the quotes out on here. Mostly anyway. I think it's likely to be even more farcical in the flesh though.

Id love to know what the book sales will be like. It should be chased as fiction though surely?!

I think she is exposing a lot of costly training in public speaking, it's still an act she finds hard to keep up. The cheese brain is still in control really, hence the pause. It's allowing time to translate between the cheese brain and how other normal people communicate.

“Truss at first seemed like a joke. Hapless, ineffectual, politically vacuous, genuinely mad, hopelessly uncharismatic. She wasn't even a bad politician. She was like a crude impersonation of a bad politician by a terrible actor. The layers of her inadequacy were endless. You would peel one away - principles, say, or policy - and then find another lying underneath: a Russian doll made of shite”

@crazy-legs

You
"We’ve only got 10 years to save the west" Written in the style of an excitable five-year-old on acid.

Oh my gummy bears and glittery rainbows! 🌈🍬🌟

So, like, listen up, grown-ups! Liz Truss, the super-duper, mega-wega, ultra-fantastic conservative hero, wrote this book called “Ten Years to Save the West.” 📚🌎

And guess what? It’s like a crazy-awesome adventure where she battles the evil forces of left-wing political agendas and rides on unicorn farts to fight for freedom! 🦄💨

Liz says, “Hey, dudes and dudettes, we’ve got only ten tiny years to save our super-cool Western way of life from the clutches of authoritarianism!” 😱🕰️

She’s all like, “Yo, let’s preserve our cotton candy clouds of economic and cultural freedom! No more boring socialism, taxes, or regulations, okay?” 🍭💰🚫

And Boris Johnson, the big boss of Britain, he’s like, “Liz Truss is right, peeps! We need to unleash enterprise, boost growth, and reject the global left’s nonsense!” 🇬🇧👊

So, grab your marshmallow fluff, hop on your gumdrop rocket, and join the quest to save the West! 🚀🌟

Remember, if you ignore Liz’s warning, you might end up in a bubblegum shark-infested moat. And nobody wants that, right? 🦈🍬

Go, go, go! Read her book, learn the lessons, and let’s keep our Western vibes alive! 📖🌟🎉

P.S. Liz Truss rocks, and so do you! 🤘
