Good Beeb podcast/program about Livi's skatepark design.
We made a pilgrimage up there when I bmx'd years ago. It was a good park but we preferred Ilfracombe's knackered bowls (before it was rebuilt) and mad nights at Marisco Disco in Woolacombe.

Cheers for that — will check it out. I was in awe of the place the first time I went in the mid 80s (before coping went on the bowl).
Use to go every week around 1990. Airwalks out of the wee bowl were my thing, but in truth I was an awful ramp skater.
I remember thinking the big bowl was pretty much unridable. Then the bones brigade visited and I remember seeing tony hawk and Bucky lasek ride it and was absolutely in awe..
Happy times..
We went early/mid 90's. BMX and skateboarding were dead and underground so Livi was pretty unloved - I remember having to sweep loads of glass out of it before we could ride it and we had the place to ourselves all day.
The Livi pilgrimage came off the back of discovering Ilfracombe's knackered bowls on a family holiday a few years before and getting into riding graffiti covered concrete like a budget version of Bones Brigade video only with bmxes and a hand painted Talbot Alpine. Happy days!
Enjoyed that - cheers for the heads up!
I went there a couple of times in the late 80s I reckon. Also to a skate place in a church in Glasgow I think - good times!
Lost half a tooth there in the early 2000’s; Good times 👍
Probably been done, but this is an enjoyable watch and great to see the future still interested in going outside and being a part of something. The wee girls reaction to the "special guest skype call" is worth it alone

Is skateboarding popular again with kids? Appreciate it's always been there but I've definitely noticed more round here hanging out. Good to see!
I went round the bowl on my gravel bike during lockdown ! Spent MANY Hours there and lost lots of skin there, remember vividly my first above coping air in the bowl. Good times.
Enjoyed that but I was disappointed.
There was a truly rubbish BBC film made there in the early/mid 80's so I thought it may have been a link to that. I was hoping to see my pathetic skills, awful clothes and plastic orange skate helmet again.

That was brilliant. Must be wonderful to be able to make a skype call and have such an effect on someone. Shows the importance of heroes.

Yes - I think because it was something you could do in the street during lockdown.
In fact the last issue of Thrasher says there's a world shortage of skateboards!
My youngest got into skate boarding just before lockdown and now lives for it.
I believe my office is in Livingstone and so I can see a trip to the skate park coming on.
There's now an indoor skate place in Glasgow called the Loading Bay.
There’s now an indoor skate place in Glasgow called the Loading Bay.
I think BSD have something to do with that. Remember just outside Glasgow you have one of the best indoor skateparks in the world. unit 23
Grant seems pretty tight with both places.
@sillyoldman, yup that's it!
I remember working up to dropping in on this vert ramp and being terrified.

Occasionally ride it on the cx and mtb for a laugh. The anklebiter used to love going round it when she was in the trailer!
