if its happening inside the building your bosses deserve a kick in the hoop for not taking action themselves. They should be covering the cost of the damage too - seeing as they pay the wages of the person who's responsible for it

I'm still vibrating with anger, i reckon i 'know' who is responsible and i've told the management who i think it is, but without proof...

Thing is, another bloke's bike was alongside mine both days and his is fine.
I came to my bike at 5pm yesterday and found i had a flat - didn't realise it had been stabbed til i got home. Because the tyre was screwed i came in on my Boardman, parked that in the same place (i still wasn't sure it had been deliberate at this point, could have been glass etc) and went to work.
Around 9:45am i thought i'd just check on my bike and found the rear tyre (again) flat. When i took the wheel off i found a slash identical to the one from the day before. Found the toolroom manager and we realised the cut was the exact size of the small craft knives a lot of people carry in the factory - they are part of our working kit.
This means to me that whoever it was went back to see their handiwork early this morning and to attack my bike again.
Can't prove who it was because of the sheer number (200+) of people who have those knives in the plant but i have my strong suspicions and i'm sorely tempted to do something about it directly.
It would be an instant dismissal offence but i'd want the police involved as well, i want the £60 it's going to cost me for 2 new tyres and tubes.

Tell HR you fear they might tinker with your brakes another time, or with the bike of some innocent person. That should get their attention.

The problem is with these sort of attacks on somebodies property, its NOT ALWAYS the one you think it is,keep an eye out for someone very concerned or showing a bit to much intrest,and when you find out signn them up for every porn site you can find and address it to their workplace.

I think the idea about mentioning to HR about my concerns is probably best - if i can get through to them!

Nothing so amusing i'm afraid.

If it is the person(s) i'm thinking off, they are a couple of slackers who do nothing all day but clown around. They once got a bollocking for overstepping the mark and scrawling 'paedo' on various items of kit belonging to me and a few other blokes - they are 22yrs old and think this is 'funny'. They got dragged over the coals for it and i'm assuming it still rankles them. Most people in the shop don't talk to them because they have pee'd everyone off with their skiving and ****ing around.
The weird thing is, the management are in full knowledge of all of this but for some reason do nothing. It's annoying because there are loads of young lads out there who would love a chance at an apprenticeship.

Report the damage to management and tell them you want the police involved.

Have it written down, just the damage and concerns, tell HR you're to angry to talk about it, give them the written version.

It could be that management might have a suspicion already and would love a chance to boot a waster.

This happens in the bike sheds at my work. There's someone who takes offense at you parking you bike in "his" parking spot. Loads of people have had vandalised bikes. Damage has ranged from bent brake levers on a road bike, punctured inner tubes and bent valves. Probably some sad old timer who's left his bike in the same spot for twenty odd years.

If it was a car in the car park then they would probably do something about it. This is no different.

You should raise a formal grievance and request the polices assistance if they persist in not helping you sort it.

In the meantime can you take your wheels off the bike and keep them elsewhere?

Tell HR and put it in writing that the damage to your bike may be the start of willfull damage to the product that your factory manufactures.

You could also fil the tubes with a solution of food dye,or ink, a few bottles and water,then pump up the tyres, so when they puncture the tyres, they will be coated in food dye,or ink and it doesnt come off easy.

You could also invest in a motion alarm. That would at least cause the douche bag to crap his pants.

why not just calmly ask the cock-bag who you suspect if he saw anybody messing around with your bike? judge his guilt based on his reaction.

Spoken to the nice lady in HR, she was pretty upset and is determined to find the culprit(s).
I'll leave it in their hands for now as i've well and truly rocked this particular boat and everyone knows how annoyed i am. Police were mentioned for when the tosser is caught, apparently they are looking through all the CCTV tapes to see what they can see.
A note will be attached to our payslips tomorrow laying down the law and threatening instant dismissal for any offences of gross misconduct regarding personal property.

UPDATE :

The clowns in question had been previously given a rollocking for their behaviour - drawing penis's on various walls & surfaces, damaging several peoples PPE by scrawling obscenities on them (hard hats & Hi-Viz) and generally skiving and acting the goat.
We knew we didn't have any CCTV evidence so were waiting for them to start their usual tricks again.
The toolroom manager had told us all that any silliness on their part was going to be punishable by instant dismissal.
Sure enough, last week and this the fools started with their comments and drawings (penis's started appearing on dusty surfaces etc.) and the main suspect actually stood in front of me across the toolroom tossing a knife in his hand repeatedly - the same type of knife that had ruined my tyres.
Anyway, today a penis'ed post-it note appeared on the work-board, the daft sod didn't even have the intelligence to realise that he had the very same post it notes all over his workstation... 🙄

As i left he was in the office, looks like there will be at least one vacancy tomorrow morning.

There is another apprentice/journeyman there, 23 and couldn't be more different - a real grafter who wants to learn his trade.

I still can't quite understand how these fools thought it would end any other way, they've been skiving for at least a year, messing around all over the plant.
To give you all an idea, one trick is to follow a member of staff into the yard, hide behind the stock and shout his name out.
Another is seriously weird - they both go to the toilets, both get into one cubicle and wait til someone goes for a 'sit down'. They then start shouting things like "Is that you daddy? i'm waiting daddy..." etc.
I'm surprised no one has clocked them to be honest, i'm typing this down and even i can't quite believe they do this stuff.

A year ago i would have done something violent and then lost my job myself, but after being arrested for the 'axe incident' i decided to do it by the book this time.
