What do you listen to while you're working hard?

I listen to various podcasts - RealPeloton, Velo Club Don Logan, Rhod Gilberts Best Bits, Fredcast, BBC Radio comdey, plus a few other comedy radio shows. I also use Radioplayer to listen to Q radio, Absolute Radio and Absolute Radio 90s.

What about you guys and girls?

The sales office have their radio on Radio JIZM or some such tripe, and the purchasing dept have theirs on something similar. I sit betwix the two departments - thankfully both are on very low volume.

It is absolutely verboten where I work. Which is a shame.

Nothing, personal earphones should be banned from workplaces where you actually need to interact with your colleagues. IMO 🙂

personal earphones should be encouraged in open-plan offices IMO.

If you need to interact with your colleague, get off your ass and go to their desk, don't shout across the partitions and annoy everyone else trying to concentrate.

Can someone recommend some good podcasts?

I spend quite a it of time on planes and trains without radio reception or internet access so have started trying to download a few podcasts using Google Listen. I'm having mixed success searching for stuff (that I know exists) and then downloading it.

As a guide the ones I've had success with and enjoy:
~ R5 Fighting Talk
~ R4 Friday Night Comedy
~ NPR All Songs Considered (American 'National Public Radio' playing a wide variety of new music)

Also, is there a better Android podcast app than Google Listen?

Planet Rock, Radio 3 or TMS on the headphones in the office.

An option is to get one of the Pure DAB radios that supports recording onto SD Card. I have the Pure Bug, possibly the Evoke 3 is the only one that does it now.

Then get a media player that plays MP2, which isn't necessarily as easy as it sounds. My Cowon iAudio 7 does it, and gives 60 hour battery life.

With decent headphones MP2s can actually sound pretty good !

Usually download and listen to artists I've previously not heard about.
