Hey!

We're moving to a house built in the 1800s, and it's grade-C listed (the lowest listed in Scotland). Pedal Cover can't cover us anymore, as the house is too old for Axa.

Anyone got similar house and decent bike cover with their insurance?

I've got written down to talk to:

Lloyds
Aviva
AA
Direct Line
Saga
Payment Shield

Cheers!

Ricks

I live in a grade 2 listed cottage built circa 1700. We had no problem at all getting insurance that also covers the bikes. We are with Liverpool Victoria.

Forgot to say the its a combined policy that ended up being a lot cheaper than our last “Barratt” styles modern detached.

Similar here, house built in 1800s. I've got my bikes covered for £10k with all the bells and whistles (cover away from home etc) but embarrassingly I can't remember who I'm insured with so I'll dig out the paperwork later.

1800s built, albeit not listed, multiple expensive bikes covered in full including away from home. Aviva.
Also, claimed twice for stolen bikes (both times away from home), claims process has been easy and no notable impact on premium

No idea on the listed building part, but my bikes are named and covered on a Lloyds home insurance policy. Price was decent and they were great to deal with when I had a claim for a bike 18 months ago, I'd happily recommend them.

Just plug all the house details and list the bikes on a price comparison site. You don't need to talk to anyone.

Though in my experience, Aviva are one of the best for bike cover and they don't appear on comparison sites.

Try John Lewis Specialist. Probably not cheap but would quote

Listed building, next to river, over 1800s - all mean price comparison sites don't give us a proper quote.

Spoke to Aviva, and they're pretty decent. £300 basic, but with our housing situation goes up to £550 - including all our bikes covered, up to £5k per bike.

We're currently with Hiscox, but have used John Lewis specialist and Aviva in the past (I tend to change most years). The NFU can be worth a try too.

Well, signed up with Aviva. Works out about 100 pound cheaper than PedalCover!

Pedal Cover can’t cover us anymore

I know - how ****ing bizarre. Its not Pedal Cover themselves but Axa who underwrite them so presumably the same exclusion will roll out to anything else that has AXA behind them.

I don't really understand the rationale - I can see how AXA might want to pick and chose what properties they cover... but we rent so our insurance is contents only. What bearing does the age or listed status have on that? In our case its only the outer shell of the building that of that age the whole of the rest of the fabric of the building from the roof down was built new in the 1990s
