Hi all,

We're off in March for 5 nights. We might do airbnb but I possibly fancy a treat, but then again I am from Yorkshire so thinking about the £100 max per night.

Small and boutique in the perfect part of Lisbon (wherever that is) would be great.

Stayed a few years ago in the Memmo Alfama hotel.
Really nice rooms, great views and located in the heart of the oldest part of the city.

Free walking tour of the area from the doorstep when i visited too. I’d go back in a heartbeat.

Stayed at the Estefania apartment, via booking.com, which is an air b&b type place. Very nice, The Hertitage on Avenida Liberdade (sp?) which is more upmarket and also quite nice and the Tings Lisbon which is a small bijou place. Of the three I probably wouldn’t bother with Tings again as the rooms were quite small. For 5 days the Estefania apartment would be good. Lisbon is nice but it isn’t cheap, unless you are after an old people’s home in which case it is ridiculously cheap compared to UK (my mother is in a home in Lisbon and my brother lives in the town centre).

I recommend Plano for dinner, very good but need to book.

Cheap old people's home - I'll bear that in mind 😊

I stayed at this place at the end of last year Upon Angels - Adults Only

The name sounds a bit seedy, but it was a great small hotel. I think it had only been open a couple of weeks so there were no reviews at the time.

Really decent location, easy to walk everywhere and convenient for public transport.

Rooms look to be about £100 per night for a random 5 day period in March.

I was there with work, but would book to stay again if I go back.

We stayed outside of Lisbon - and found that a nice experience. I was working, but mrs_oab just took train into town and I joined her for a day. There is lots outside of Lisbon, and in fact we found the city overly busy and very 'mass tourism'.

Mrs_oab preferred Cascais and Estoril, we visited Pastéis de Belém (be very early to avoid queues!) and along the coast. I enjoyed working in Estoril and also visited the Quinta National Park.

We stayed at the hotel Inglaterra (!) https://www.hotelinglaterra.com.pt/ - very nice place really, and great value.

We stayed here

Hotel Tivoli Avenida Liberdade Lisboa
+351 21 319 8900

Nice hotel, short walk down to the main squares etc, couple of nice cafes and deli's on the way. Also has an outdoor pool so we liked being able to have a wander about, then when it was baking hot in the pm, chill by the pool.

Excellent to find that the bus stop was right over the road which made transfer from the airport even easier. There's a stand right outside arrivals, you buy a ticket for ave de liberdade, bus stops you right outside 👌

This was about 8 yrs ago though!!

An Uber from the airport to town is only about eight euros, it’s quite a short journey.
