Recently moved into a house and in the process of boarding the loft out for storage etc.

I need to put something on the inside of the roof (i think) mainly to stop it be so dusty up there.

Whats the done thing?

I was thinking building paper?

Currently can just see the underside of the roof tiles when in the loft.

Thanks in advance

You need a breathable membrane.

Try not to board the loft where possible.

Ideally you want 13" of Insulation without a board on top of it.

Consider having shelves between trusses instead and throwing all the junk away.

Tyvek is commonly used for roofing membranes as an alternative to the old bituminous felt. Although it'd usually be layed over the rafters and secured by the battens, it's not a bad product to use for your purpose. It will maintain the ventilation of the roof void while keeping the dust out.
If you plan to insulate between the rafters (at roof line, not ceiling line) then you need to maintain a min of 50mm clear air gap to the back of the tiles / slates.

Be careful too. If you only have ceiling joists and not deeper floor joists dont pile too much stuff, especially paper in there!

Just curious - why isn't it a good idea to board too much of your loft? Sorry for the slight thread hijack.
