The pain killer addiction of Steve was far too predictable and easy. My prediction is he will cross the line whilst high on painkillers and will resign so that it doesn’t screw with the case.

The addiction that could have been entirely avoided by him going to his GP and saying "can you prescribe me some painkillers and anti-inflammatories for ongoing pain management of a chronic back injury?".

Why do people get so upset about little continuity errors? Don’t spend the entire episode trying to find problems/pick holes and it will be more enjoyable.

I enjoyed it last night, none the wiser as to what’s going on though! Thought the ambush scene was excellent and a jive ending to the episode as well.

Getting a bit fed up of the constant looking down from a window/mezzanine shots though!

It’s gone from being a sharply-scripted, taughtly-plotted thriller to being an appallingly-scripted, absurdly-plotted nonsense.

A fair criticism, I'm watching it for shots and giggles rather than any sense of gripping drama now

Edit : well done auto correct, I'll leave that!

Yep, I just view as some daft, fun entertainment now rather than real drama. If either the wife or I tut under our breath the other will give out our "It's not real life" line 😉

Stopped watching after Ep.2. It's dreadful. I feel sorry for the cast. It's so appallingly written, totally unnatural, stilted dialogue, lack of any real humanity in the characters, it's like a computer wrote a drama series. It's trying to be all 'edgy' and 'noir', and failing miserably. All so predictable really. Shame.

I thought it was great - very entertaining - best one so far of this series. Still intrigued by what hold they have over Davidson - clearly a family member connection of some sort...

Loved it. Realistic? Nope. I'm not that interested in watching a show about a bunch of coppers filling in forms at the station and then driving around in a van.

For once I thought the armed coppers did quite a good job. Normally they get wiped out by the crims. Recruitment standards in OCG’s must be slipping!

Love it, but its held in the same regard as Midsummer Murders ont' other side. Entertaining way to spend a Sunday evening in front of the box, but not much of a foot in reality.

Mrs F and I think it could be John Corbett as the blood relative and the shootout was a convenient way to get hold of some OCG firearms that have been 'workshopped'!

Far too much use of buzz words - CHIS etc. And this OCG are better organised and equipped than SPECTRE. If she’s not Blofelds daughter then I’ll be disappointed.

I was surprised they were so keen to start searching for links through the workshopped weapons rather than the half a dozen dead bodies all over the road!

Davidson can’t be related to Hastings or any of the serving officers or that would have shown on the initial cross check of the Police database?

Not sure. I thought they said cross referencing of police DNA samples with the criminal database was not routine when she started, so it wouldn’t have been picked up. But Corbett’s on the database as a suspect given he went rogue in the last series hence the link is now established. But Hastings’ DNA isn’t in there as he’s excluded for not being a suspect...but that’s the next twist to come I reckon.

But yeah,Tommy Hunter is more likely.

I've been binge watching it from the start over the last couple of weeks as my wife is a fan and wanted me to get into it. I've enjoyed it, you could certainly play Ted Hastings cliche bingo! There's only one thing we're interested in... etc! Definitely regularly hammy, but entertaining enough.

I was also surprised that they survived the ambush! And sharp shooting from Steve!

Given that she is Scottish, I'm going with Tommy Hunter as Davidson's father.

I think Midsummer Murders is closer to reality, Line of Duty is just buzzword bingo

How about this for the most tenuous Line of Duty connection ever? Local journalism at its finest.

Spiral was similar, seeing as that’s been mentioned.

Now you need to go and sit quietly and reflect on what you've just said. When you're truly sorry you can join in again.

Of course Starmer threw in an ac12 reference in yesterday's PMQs

Bit of a tumbleweed moment

It reminded me of Gordon brown mentioning he was a fan of 'The Arctic Monkeys'

Ah, I didn't see this

Now you need to go and sit quietly and reflect on what you’ve just said. When you’re truly sorry you can join in again.

Then I'll go with him, and come back entirely unrepentant. We made the mistake of watching the whole of Spiral, end to end, over the last few months. By the end I was getting pretty sick of watching French policepeople, and a particular French lawyer, just be really effing stupid, again and again and again and again...

Yeah reckon that Westmoreland Gazette article is as close to the edge as it gets. Problem is for its sheer ridiculousness it'll be shared far and wide and only serve to feed the beast of shitty journalism.

Due to covid filming restrictions, H turns out to be Adam from Cold Feet?

I’m not sure if all the cliches about the show above are why I love it or why my diminishing attention span struggles with it. Can’t wait though.

Ooooh, who got shot then? Mercurio is not averse to killing off major characters so it could be Kate.

Based on previous seasons I predict Ted will be on the ropes next week, ready for a miraculous recovery in ep 7.

Wild guess while suffering him in that crazy Mercurio Goliath thing at the time*.

My bet - Ryan dead, Kate badly injured but saved by body armour, Jo cracks and goes into witness protection.

Or, Steve turned up, killed Ryan and Jo to hide the fact that he's really H.

*Now tell me i shouldn't have made the Big Hitters shortlist on the magazine! 🤣

LESFO for me, late entrance by specialist firearms officer.

I also wonder if Jed Mercurio has been hiding it in plain sight all along. We all know Ted's a child of the 60's, maybe a bit old school from those times, so when he says he's out to trap a 'bent copper' what version of bent is that?

Makes you think.....

What was the significance of Ted's wistful look at his class photo from police college? I didn't spot any familiar faces but I'm a bit rubbish at that sort of thing.

As for the shooting, we know Kate is a super sniper so she'll have shot the gun out of Ryan's hands but in a cruel twist his wayward shot will end up hitting Jo, putting her in hospital where she thinks she's safe, but the OCG will have penetrated ITU and Charlie from Casualty turns out to be H.

I must confess to finding it all a bit OTT and has been for a while. Probably my fault having never watched the previous 5 series, then bingeing them. Was very good right up until OCG busted Cotton out of the interview room! Still, there's worse ways to wate an hour on a Sunday evening. My money's on Priti being H. Or, more likely, DCSU Carmichael.

My bet:
Ryan swings round and caps Jo to stop her testifying, Kate shoots Ryan, non fatal wound.

then next weeks episode will be a tense nail biter trying to keep Ryan alive then just as we get to the credits we'll find another Bent Copper(TM) gets to Ryan and bumps him off <close to black>

Mercurio's desperation to use real-life events and tragedies to prop up his melodrama is wearing a bit thin - Savile, Cliff and now Stephen Lawrence.

As for the ending, it's this:

but with much worse acting.

I have to say they do seem to have run out of ideas, which I hadn't felt up until now, although they were ramping each series up in a way that wasn't sustainable.

Too many TLAs, sayings from Ted and Carmichael is stupidly over acted/directed.

Still enjoying it tho! Better than Bloodlands. Have started the Wire again to keep me going when it finishes.

Always hated this. from kates point of view she's got the drop on Ryan, holding an illegal gun. Shoot him as soon as he turns the gun towards you, dont pause for a verbal argument.

Same for Ryan, as far as he is aware (not knowing about AC12 surveillance on him) his only way out is killing Kate (which he had already mentally prepared himself for, going to the meeting).

If he was going to kill Kate, surely he'd have been at the truck yard waiting and stealthy, not arrive in the same car as the boss!

Going on the run didn't make sense to me, surely they would of just said they acted in tye line of duty to preserve life like Davidson said in her interview.
Kate knew that a team were coming when she phoned Steve surely

I think she would have taken out the mag and cleared the gun of any ammo before handing it to Jo. That would have been less tense though. The chase ? Wtf! Again take those two bits out of the episode and what did you have?

Cant help thinking the OCG are loosing site if their core values. They are devoting more energy at infiltrating the fuzz than good honest guns, drugs and girls. Criminals of today, what’s the world coming to!

Particularly hilarious. Let's shoot a serving police officer, go on a driving tour of the city with the person who set you up to be killed, get nicked, then get let out almost immediately despite strong indications you pulled the trigger - and straight back to work heading up the team which just lost a popular officer in the incident. Mate.

We learnt that Davidson didn't know her real dad and that try are wanting us to believe that her "dad" is dead in Spain.

All fingers pointing at the big police chief being the 4th H, so that's clearly not going to happen now!

So, Carmichael is a wrong-un. Steve is the love-child of the chief constable and Jo's mother conceived while she was resident in the children's home, and was placed in AC12 by his dad who isn't the 4th H as thats waaay too obvious. Hastings finally finds out who the big cheese in the cops/ocg is, has a heart attack, taking that knowledge to the grave with him. Fade to black. (Oh, and someone appears in a shower, and its all been a rather weird dream.)

Yeah, I'm a bit lost. She seems to maintain she's not bent...while admitting to be being pressured into doing stuff for the OCG. I don't really get what she thinks she is.

I also don't get why they did the whole Thelma and Lousie thing either.

Still enjoying it though, unlike the cool kids who feel they have to tell us they are not constantly.
