How is she even relevant to music
Just heard her live and WTF
also not relevant to the bike forum category 😉
It ain't what you know its who.
Think shes a good songwriter though.
Did she 'Reek'?
I think she makes the trails come alive but would like to try her with wider bars and a shorter stem.
Well her house backs onto some great local trails here.
Whow ! You took the time to come on a cycling forum to tell us you don't like a popular musical performer. Aren't there specialist forums for celebrity haters ?
I would.
You would what?
I would too.
You would too what?
Ride the trail into her back garden?
I would too as well you know.
I would.
You would what?
Face her bottom bracket? Maybe.
I would too, but perhaps not after two other chaps have
What Rob said ^^
Where's Kylie?
I wouldn't mess with her dad
but would like to try her with wider bars and a shorter stem.
Same goes for a lot of them really, makes them more responsive
at least she rides a bike
I remember when that first tune started getting airplay, it was a complete breath of fresh air.. There must be at least a dozen great acts that were directly influenced by what Lily and her old man achieved. I'd be tempted to say she spawned a whole sub genre.. I'm not going to compare her to the greats, and I'm not particularly a fan myself, but denying her any acclaim is probably just a symptom that you're a bit out of touch with modern popular culture..
just my twopence worth 🙂
I wouldn't

Ah BECS - would rather ride that *swoons*
Do you think she'll be QOM at the new Flyup 417
She's dog rough, though she did look foxy in a GQ shoot years ago...airbrushing I'm guessing.
Sometimes I think she is terrible, and sometimes pretty good. Which is odd. Last time she was terrible though.
I saw a topless pic of her- she looked like a slightly chubby adolescent that'd run round a paddling pool in summer.
****ing Grim.
I cant get past her awful accent, street or not, I cant stand it.
Can't remember who it was on here that described finding his pre-school daughter singing along "cause the filth took away my licence", but it still makes me smile 🙂
Well I think she's good
I cant get past her awful accent, street or not, I cant stand it.
I do wonder how much of that is put on. Given that other than a very brief spell on a council estate, she's lived in nice places and gone to some of the best public schools in the UK, I can't imagine that the accent is anything other than a fabrication to give her some credibility. Sort of like Damon Albarn and Ben Elton.
How dare you question my opinion yunki I listen to nick grimshaw and was only given some vinyl the other day
She has a nice boat race. She's also laughing all the way to the bank.
Fair play to her.
She seems to know some of you.
"You’re not a size six,and you’re not good-looking.
Well, you better be rich, or be real good at cooking.
You should probably lose some weight, ‘cause we can’t see your bones.
You should probably fix your face, or you’ll end up on your own.
Don’t you want to have somebody who objectifies you?"
She wins the thread without even being aware it exists 😆
Sorry catshroedinger - In light of your revelation it appears that I may have made myself look like a bit of a wally! 😉
Her voice is pretty but thin. Unlike her.
😈
She talks a load of old bollocks.

Rockplough - do you know the words...?
Kids today, i just played smells like teen spirit and the chap in the office said 'i quite like that nickelback song' 😐 👿
Did she 'Reek'?
Bravo Sir, I caught that one. 😉
Lilly Allen in dividing opinion horror...two pages though
i think she scrubs up well, and she has a reet mucky demeanor. bang on. not familiar with her music tho.
I think she's great and though the camera sometimes does her no favours, she's never claimed to be a supermodel and is a great role model for being pretty normal. Writes some good lyrics and has a very distinctive voice which sometimes sounds great.
And she lives in or near my favourite local riding woods (so I hear).
Can't see why she'd be controversial.
She sings as well as her brother acts.
Their rise to stardom has nothing to do with their father pulling a few strings. No siree.
Her voice is just a mono tone singing awful bloody lyrics while trying to (whilst failing miserably) to look sexy.
Her Dads young wife is an ex of mine. He always gives me filthy looks when I bump into them!
No auto tune at Glastonbury....

That's exactly what I think about New Order, who really are utter bilge.
Stay classy, STW!
Whilst i am not quite her target demographic and i'm not overly familiar with her work, the stuff I have heard seems to send out a really good message to young females about not having to look or behave in a way that a pretty misogynistic american music industry says they should.
A message that has clearly been missed by a few previous posters 🙄
why the shitting hell are there two threads about Lily Allen? Surely she ain't worth the attention?

Oh she is. And I would again.

Bzzz - Last call for PeterPoddy to the lobotomy suite….PeterPoddy to the Lobotomy suite - Bzzz
PP, Bernard Sumner is pretty monotone on many New Order tracks, but it suit :-)s the music so well it just adds to the whole thing.
And having a terrible voice never stopped Dylan.

No, but plenty of people with better voices have done wonderful things with Dylan songs, Joan Baez for one, which she often points out during her concerts.
Thing is in order to put a song across, you don't need to have a flawless voice, that can sometimes get in the way, think of Tom Waits, Neil Young, Leonard Cohen, Kurtz Cobain, Courtney Love, Debbie Harry, Richard Thompson, Martha Wainwright...
I like Lily, she tells stories with her songs, she doesn't need a great voice to do that.
I far prefer her to Madonna!

So you don't like her music, but feel the need to comment on her shape, physique, call it what you like. Classy.
She came across as a very intelligent and pleasant person on Desert Island Discs this morning.
I'm sure she's lovely and extremely well educated and would be a good laugh to be with down the pub.
Did you hear her singing live, unaided by computers over the weekend? A singer she is not. A mediocre karaoke down the pub kind of girl she might be.

I am not familiar with the brother's body of work.
However, it's nonsense to say that her career is just down to her father's influence. For one, he doesn't have much. For two, the music industry is a dying and evil factory. There's no room any more for indulgences for second tier actors' kids - it doesn't make money.
She brought a small audience before she was signed (not that there is any money in being signed any more), she is reasonably authentic (in that she can write and sing her own music), the songs were well-produced, and she had something interesting that some people wanted to listen to. You don't have to like it, that's okay.

I'm sure it makes someone happy. 🙂

Which is like comparing rabies to a broken leg.

Yup, tragic.
You don't look at the mantelpiece when you're stoking the fire.
As the father of two teenage girls, I'm happier to see someone like Lily acting as a role model for them than Made in Chelsea or TOWIE
I also think its pointless criticising her live singing, when we grew up listening to musical geniuses the Stone Roses & the Pogues
Another vote for "would".

Wow, clever. Did you make that up?

Good point.
Stop knocking people for fancying her as a woman and not for her music. It is of course possible, and there's nothing wrong with that. For instance, my wife agreed voluntarily to marry me, and I can't sing at all. We've had carnal relations despite my poor vocal ability, so however you rate Lily's voice there is always hope 😉
Outstandingly disappointing thread..
I started out working through, sending out warnings and removing posts. Once I've closed this thread I think I'll just go through it once more with the ban hammer.
