Lighting circuits and 0.75mm

Think I've messed this up...

Standard 6a light ring, ive needed to move a 1 gang switch and the old cable didn't reach so ive replaced it with 6a 3 way double insulated 0.75mm this will reach from the switch to the pendent

Thing is ive literally had the cable buried / wall plastered today, double checked and it should be 1mm for regs??

I did ask some if our very knowledgeable electrical engineers at work before fitting, who think have got the loads right but arent familiar with the regs, bloody annoying to have to dig it back out and maje good!

0.75mm cable can hack 6A (just), and presumably you won't be dangling a kilowatt of lighting off it?

How much lighting are we talking about? 6A is a lot for lighting these days.

OK I'm an industrial electrician so we don't do silly things like seal stuff under plaster etc. But we could run whole floors of a mill lighting that would be bigger than a footballers mansion off a 6A breaker.

PS I ****ing hate domestic electrics 😉

Size wise couple of pendents in 2 rooms plus kitchen leds, thought it was more a regs thing than a gauge for individual ring loads, all the other switches are 1mm now I've checked...

Not the end of the world to swap just bloody annoying, id have used 1mm if id known and its been hanging out the wall for a month with me thinking it was to spec before the plasterer came today

By double checked you mean read the 19th edition regulation hand book ?

Because 0.75mm^2 lighting became a thing in the 19th.

Prior to that it was 1mm^2 or the highway.

0.75mm cable can carry up to 6A, as has been stated above by Flaperon. This equates to 1380 watts at 230V or 1440W at 240; either way your wattage on a lighting circuit won't come anywhere near that if you're using LED lamps. The formula that refers is Ib≤In≤Iz, where Ib is the circuit design current (probably mA if you're using LEDs), In is the cb rating (6A) and Iz is the cable max load rating (also 6A in this case). 1mm or even 1.5mm pre-date very low consumption lighting, and the regs still assume a max load of 100A per lighting point for design purposes, however they may be more relevant for volt drop.
TLDR: you may have (just) dodged the bullet.

Since swapping out all our lights to LED I've lowered the breakers on the lighting circuits as they use bugger all current now. They're now all 6A, they were higher - 12/16A - can't recall.
