Brown has been in today and come out of it quite well - I find this astonishing from a died in the wool tory / Brown hater

Andrew Neil

Refreshing lack of 'I can't recall' and 'not to my recollection' in Brown's testimony

I beleive that no matter what you think about Brown that he is one of the more honest politicians around - he has other flaws but he ain't a liar inthe way that others on all sides are

Brown flatly contradicted Murdochs sworn evidence - another tangle to sort out but no evidence to back it up either way.

He also pours scorn on Murdoch and shows some decent humility.

Osbourne later today - looking forward to that. I expect him to be dissected.

I expect George will be playing the James Murdoch/I don't recall line quite a lot

Particularly at any of their cosy private parties at their respective Ski Chalets. I know noooothiiiiiing!

1236: Mr Jay asks whether Mr Brown called on Mr Whelan to brief against former Conservative prime minister John Major. He says he cannot recall anything about this at all.

Wonder what the final bill will be for all this?

I always thought Brown was the better choice after Smith died - they both carried off the intellect / integrity angle at is normally so lacking. Was disappointed that Labour went for the shiny suited media friendly image (but understand why, as Leveon has been making clear)

A lot - but it may just be worth it if it reduces the poisonous influence of Murdoch

🙄

You think that not remembering every single event, or even every alleged event which never happened in the last 20 years, blows apart Andrew Neil's claim that there has been a refreshing lack of 'I can't recall' and 'not to my recollection' in Brown's testimony ?

Perhaps Andrew Neil has his own political agenda ?

Brown has been in today and come out of it quite well

Came out of it smelling of something, did not realise that was what roses smelt of.

Don't tell me uncle Jezza. He's been effected by this enormous collective amnesia that seems to has gripped all the News International lot.

With his appalling memory, its a good job he has a position where one isn't required, eh?

He appers merely to be semi detached from reality.

Osborne says there was "no substantive discussion" with Jeremy Hunt or Vince Cable about the bid.

Osborne says he was "not aware" of Hunt's view of the bid, or Cameron's.

"I assumed, speaking about Mr Cameron, that the whole thing was a political inconvenience," Osborne says.

somewhat at odds with his texts

That all sounds eminently plausible TJ? Who could possibly take issue with any of that?

C'mon mefty - don't rain on the parade. 😉

Can't you see the excitment today - a PM (non) story, an ex Pm and a Chancellor at Levinson? Kleenex at the ready....its almost too much for some.

That wouldn't be the sworn evidence that Brown is barking mad? Can't believe he contradicted that!

Osborne says legal advice was sought over Hunt's suitability for taking responsibility for the BSkyB bid given his previous comments in favour.

Osborne says he was "not aware" of Hunt's view of the bid,

i think that fife NHS admitting that the story about gordos kid having cyctic fibrosis was leaked to the sun via them shows just how seriously the murdochs and brooks take the concept of sworn evidence

I'm not saying the Murdochs etc aren't flat out liars, but I still think Brown is a bit doolally and could well be a touch unfamiliar with the truth.

Brown has little need to lie now especially about what happened between him and Murdoch- however the bit about his aides not briefing is a little hard to take

Hmmmmm. Politician's on one side - a former PM no less, and a chancellor I wouldn't trust as far as I could throw him. And News International journalists lined up on the other saying something different. Throw in a few clearly corrupt coppers to liven up proceedings......

Its entirely possible that not a single word of truth has passed anyone's lips throughout the entire proceedings

Osbourne:

One person's fact is another person's opinion

You could learn something off him TJ

FACT!

Binners you old cynic!

Osborne dined w R Brooks, Will Lewis and J Murdoch on April 5 2010 [day of first hacking arrests] but doesn't remember discussing BSkyB bid

Osbourne got away lightly - and was clearly well prepared attempting to divert attention away from NI links all the time.

Never mind TJ - one (GB) out of three ain't bad. Perhaps the money spent by the Osborne family on St Pauls and Magdalen Oxford was well spent after all. 😉

But don't worry there will be plenty of real stuff to get stuck into GO at some later date!

Indeed THM - Looking back, TJ has previously told us that Osbourne was:

i) Stupid
ii) an arrogant posh boy
iii) He is not there on merit - he is there because he is Camerons crony

But now he is "clearly well prepared" 😀

Politicians are incapable of presenting any truth but their own. How can they be trusted?

I'm not going to start on Gordon Brown. I typed a paragraph out before deleting it and writing this. It just got me too angry.

"Well prepared" as in my butler prepares my suit for the day, my chef prepares my meals, my advisor prepares my answers.

He's not doing his own homework.

this thread or the enquiry?

Well prepared does not make you clever it makes you well prepared. I could be well prepared for an Antarctic if i asked the right person to pack my things.

I doubt even the right wingers view GO as big hitter or intellectual colossus within their movement...obviously you are all stupid bit NOT that stupid 😉
