Son is on a Beavers sleep over so we have no restrictions on movie choices.

Jigsaw -WTF is there a nastier movie? Never watched any of the Saw films unlike the wife

Hopefully there are many writers and this series of movies is not all from the mind of one person.

I doubt it will be anything more than a variation on all the saw stuff - nasty, pointless. Any other choices?

Our son bought Bad mums for his mum on mother’s day. She can watch on her own

The greatest showman- wife asked son if he would like to go to the Showcase cinema to watch it”why would I want to do that?” He replied.

Jungle book was ace, took son and his friend to watch in 3d. His friend said the quality wasn’t very good  and not clear & was like the dvds his dad gets. He took the 3d glasses of at the beginning 😐

there were lots of others but wife wasn’t interested.

she sat(wriggled) and screamed and swore the whole way through. She loved it, which was a bit disturbing

I can’t watch films with my missus, soon as a film starts, she suddenly has the memory of a goldfish and attention span of a 2 year old. Goes something along the lines of.......

“Who’s that?”

“Terminator? Are you asking who that is now? An hour into the film?”

“Yeah, where does he fit in?”

“The whole films been about him, he is the terminator and he is a robot”

“what? A robot? How do you know that? No point me watching it now, you’ve ruined it”

I wanted Master and Commander: Far Side Of The World, she wanted Love Actually. This one sticks on the mind mostly because she was bloody right, Love Actually is amazing.

As a film that should appeal to just about anyone (well maybe not kids), the Baywatch remake is actually not that bad.

My old trouble and strife will occasionally suggest we watch a film. Trouble is she likes surprises and hates watching trailers because according to her it ruins any sense of surprise as to what might happen, she has such an aversion to finding out what the film is about that I'm not allowed to give any kind of synopsis I just have to choose, and since I'm the resident film buff it's always up to me.

Two choices here that stand out. Armageddon, what utter, utter tosh. With friends one evening in the house Zac And Miri Make a Porno! Frosting has never been the same since!!

*cough*

*adopts fake british accent*

I say Doctor Maturin, would you play bass while I strum my violin like a guitar in a confusing sequence of platonic male bonding?

My wife can never decide on a film to watch. It usually falls to me to suggest films whilst she says no to them until I get one she wants.

Be a lot easier if we cut out me suggesting them and just skipped to the bit where she chooses one.

Wife wanted Guardians if the galaxy, I wanted The Foreigner.

I won... We both really enjoyed it. She conceded it was the right choice!

(Whispers) I quite enjoyed the greatest showman (whispers)

I've put up with The Voice tonight.

My turn now. 12 Angry Men is worth one angry wife.

Last night she picked the movie “Remember” as eclectic in movie choices as she is with shit music.

It was really good

I dunno - Guardians of the Galaxy is one of my favourite films (assuming you're talking about the first one), definitely something to watch at some point. I haven't seen The Foreigner yet myself but it's on the list.

We take it in turns for films, I make my other half watch some absolute rubbish, and she does the same back!

I just have to hide the fact I actually quite enjoy the odd Romantic and Disney film.

However we have watched Pride and Prejudice over 5 times in the past month. Luckily Rosamund Pike is a very very attractive woman!

That sounds familiar 🙂 we also use the same process for deciding which restaurants we go to.

Hahahahaha No, Never.

Last movie She chose? One of the Hobbit Yawnfests.

Last movie I took her to at the Cinema? Blade Runner 2049, she was asleep in minutes.

How we got together I will never fathom.

We have the exact same issue in my house when deciding what to watch on Netflix.

Last night she picked the movie

Letting your wife/partner choose a movie

It's a film, ffs.

Unless you're an American (in which case it's a film, ffs)

So, to summarise, in every STW household the wife wants a romcom and blokey wants Bravo Two Zero - The Final Reckoning. Then when one of them gets their way the other one accuses them of not watching it the way they should.

"A film, also called a movie, motion picture, theatrical film, or photoplay, is a series of still images that, when shown on a screen, create the illusion of moving images This optical illusion causes the audience to perceive continuous motion between separate objects viewed in rapid succession."

Indeed, we like to eat cookies and candy when watching a movie.

My GF will spend ages saying no to films, then eventually decide on one. Then sit with her eyes glued to her phone for the next 2hrs. Occasionally asking what's going on and who key characters are...

My mrs used to click through for 10 minutes until she found something with explosion and guns

Shes much better now though after several 'i'm just going for a ride' and wondering out the door moments

She watches her own type if stuff on her own now but we do enjoy 1 or 2 movies a week together

I'm forever accused of watching mindless films, sci-fi, helicopters, king fu... main constituents. OH is interested in The Human Condition and life stories... Scored a bullseye with Arrival - she didn't see it coming*  - in floods of tears at the end.

We now do a "classic movie" night with the kids and so far have got through - inc Ferris Bueller's Day Off, The Blues Brothers, Smokey and the Bandit (I didn't recall how much of a promotional film for Sally Field's rear end it was!) and The Good, The Bad and The Ugly! turns out my 13 yo daughter loves a cowboy film, she's not getting Django Unchained yet though!

*no pun intended

If only I could meet myself a few days ago to give warning of the horror that is The Greatest Showman. Never again will I be duped into sitting through such a cesspool of tacky saccharine, vacuous pointlessness. What a waste of film. What a waste of time. What a waste of noise. I fell asleep twice and the bugger was still on and had hours to go. Grief.

the horror.

if you have not seen it but have been told, “it’s not a musical just an entertaining film with a few songs in it” . You are being lied to friend. Just walk away.

I once let Mrs D choose a movie. She chose Marley and me, she has never been allowed to choose a movie since.

The last two my GF chose turned out to be quite good!

Cloverfield Paradox and Annihilation which both went straight to Netflix I think.

ONE TO AVOID: 'Annihilation' on Netflix.

I'm easily pleased when it comes to Science Fiction. There needs to be: a) Science and b) fiction. That's not too much to ask is it? Alex Garland overthinking it as usual, creating a movie that has minimal narrative drive and un-engaging characters with very little reason for any of it. Avoid.

Given that the run time is 1hr 46 mins, I believe you sir are talking shite. 🙂
