Thats panic buying though, now that the reality is sinking in that they've failed to invest in the squad sufficiently, for season after season, enough to keep them in the top 4

Or Fergie made bad new purchases?

I watched it this morning with my lad (8) who said even he could've done better than some of them. I had to agree.

A midfield of Cleverly, Carrick, Valencia and Young doesn't scream European Champions does it.

Smalling was awful, how Hodgson is even considering him for an England place is beyond me.
RVP seems to have moved on from his 'purple patch'.
Rooney just runs round like a headless chicken trying to do everybody else's jobs for them!!!
Fun,fun,fun 😆

Fair play to Olympiakos. They looked good all night. Way more threatening than us (hardly difficult, I know). That second goal was an absolute peach.

...maybe becoming manager was yet another thing they gave Rooney in his new contract.

Is there a single united fan in the world who didn't proudly proclaim that united give there managers time, it's the united way etc etc last summer.

Feel sorry for Moyes, but will happily laugh at all the smug fans who believed their own bullshit.

That is all of course if the rumors are true.

From his movement in the game, I thought they'd just shipped it over to the Greece for the night. No way that was a real defender was it?

TBF, if he was to go, it would be better now so they have time to sort something out in good time for next season. They can't win anything this season anyway so stick someone in as a caretaker and take their time.

But that would upset Ferguson and they want him still involved in the running of the club.

Difficult to go on highlights only but that looked like the most comprehensive defeat Liverpool have inflicted at OT in years. It may not have been the 1-4 of four years ago but Utd were always in that game despite the scoreline. Fellaini looks more and more like a liability every time he plays - and got away with two penalties that may have been awarded against him.

Oh and Vidic. 😆 (though Sturridge's dive was a shocker.)

Somebody who thinks they can motivate a load of prima dona unprofessional overpaid half wits! Its the team that have let him down. Spineless IMO.
I think Moyes is a "solid" but limited manager however he deserves more.

Ironically Vidic was the only player that didnt give away a penalty yesterday! he was unfortunate and Sturridge like the most others is a cheat.

Whilst Sturridge made it look a lot worse than it was... it was without doubt a penalty... Sturridge just went down before he was taken out.

OK pre emptive cheating then? That makes it OK 🙄

Anyway he was passed him when he went to ground unless you are saying that against the laws of physics Vidic once he hit the ground was going to pick up speed then make contact?

You can whine like a girl all you want fella... However, it doesn't change anything.

the club is still in pieces, the manager is having a disaster and the players are deserting the sinking ship like rats..

Welcome to the next phase of Man Utds life. I look forward to seeing if the levels of support for the manager, the club etc all continue.

"we don't sack managers"

Was all very easy to say when he was winning trophy upon trophy... However in Fergusons lean times, it was a different board, different owners and a totally different game.

Of course, i hope Moyes stays... i like him... He looks like he's aged 10 years this season though.

The thing with United is that you might believe in Moyes if there was any evidence of improvement or a plan, but there isn't. Mata is a very good player but why pay all that money then play him out of position?

I watched the Sturridge incident carefully. I looked to me like Vidic's foot slid under Sturridge's as he put it down.
It's human instinct, when you feel yourself standing on something that shouldn't be there, to unweight your foot so as not to risk damaging your ankle or whatever you're standing on.
So whilst as a Liverpool supporter I'm biased, I wouldn't say Sturridge cheated at all.

RE: the penalty....it wasnt a penalty but i dont think it could be called cheating...more gamesmanship. sturridge went looking for the contact and like most modern footballers was ready to go to ground once contact was made...but the contact never came as he was too quick for vidic...this made it look like a blatant dive...
however i think vidic was kind of lucky to be on the pitch at that time anyway as on another day he could have been given a straight red for clattering into the back of suarez (his first yellow)
rafael was also lucky to still be on the pitch too as his handball could have got him his second yellow too
the foul on sturridge by carrick was a stonewall penalty but i suppose not getting that one was justice served for the one that was awarded and subsequently missed by gerrard.
as a liverpool fan i dont like players who cheat especially if they are our players and i hope sturridge got a rollocking from rodgers for the penalty.
i wish suarez would now start taking the penalties instead.

i've seen comments from utd fams saying moyes should quit but i think moyes should honour his contract....
Utd should actually rip up his current one and give him an improved and extended contact as a reward for the excellent work he's doing at old toilet!! 😆

I didn't think it was a penalty. But then, Carrick got away with a blatant one, and Rafael should've been sent off, so Man U shouldn't feel too hard done by.

looked like a dive to me as a Liverpool supporter and I wish he hadn't done it. Would love to see retrospective punishments for divers.
What is becoming obvious to me is that Ferguson was an even better manager than any of us thought to mold that group into a title winning team.

I watched the MOTD2 footage. Vidic's foot is clearly underneath Sturridge's foot and Sturridge appears to roll forward upon feeling the foot. Yes, he went down easily, and was looking for the penalty, but I don't think that makes him a cheat.

And let's face it, we absolutely mugged the scum left right and centre, so that incident was neither here nor there! 😀

It's perhaps a bit of a dive but the attempted tackle missed the ball completely and could easily have taken him out unless he jumped over it. I've seen much worse (from Ashley Young, Nani, Ronaldo, Berbatov etc etc).

Don't really see what all the fuss is about. I guess they have to try and cling on to something.

I think last year, while Fergie got the maximum out of his team, it was as much as other teams imploding. City especially with Mancini seaming to be picking arguments with his players every week. Benitez also performed a bit of a miracle seeing how the fans treated him, but it can't have been easy to get the best out of them under those conditions.

Debating what was a penalty, and what wasn't is all pretty academic really though. We were woeful! We could have stayed out there for another 90 minutes and never looked like scoring. We were comprehensively outclassed. You can't blame Moyes. Nobody turned up! Simple as! Apart from Vidic, as per. And he probably got himself sent off as he was trying desperately to carry those who had failed to show up.

VP is the biggest disappointment. You need to show some character, not just when you're winning, but when you're not getting it your own way. His sulk is now becoming Anelka-like. He's a world class player. He needs to start acting like one. He's been happy to pick up his enormous wage packet while he's been out injured for most of the season
