Good idea Flashy.

Mods... can you please replace "someone" with who it always was going to be... Bullheart or Petesgaff?

Thanks.

I'm in. Do you nominate individually or en masse, and what area does Mark live in if that has to be included?

Why? To Help Seb look even more smug as the country falls in love with the Olympics. If you couldn't tell I'm really quite negative about the whole shooting match. In my opinion, expressed when we won it, we should have flogged it to the French. Maybe then we wouldn't be making massive cut backs in public services. (LoL)

Look, like it or not we've got it now and this is a chance to nominate Bullheart for recognition as an inspirational individual, not a place for you to rehash long standing complaints.

If you feel that strongly, go start your own thread somewhere away from this one.

What an excellent idea. TBH I was filled with apathy watching the coverage but this actually means something.

He's got my nomination 😀

My dad held the torch for one of the runners when the olympics were last here in 1948.
I'm looking forward to them. Haven't had any money go from my account yet for tickets

Ok, I've read the rules and I guess we could all nominate him individually but it probably makes most sense if we send one nomination with a list of all the people who want to nominate him.

Lurkers... it's time to step into the light 🙂

no need thems the rules

Nominating a Torchbearer: Getting ready in 5 easy steps
1. Read the terms and conditions. These apply to both the person making a nomination and the person being nominated

2. Choose who you want to nominate. Make sure you know what we are looking for

3. Tell them you are nominating them. Get their correct name, address, email address and contact phone number.

4. Prepare around 150 words explaining why the person you are nominating is so inspirational.

5. Check that emails received from london2012@mail.comms.london2012.com are added to your Safe Sender list. Get your nominee to do the same.

Ready? Then nominate a London 2012 Torchbearer and give them the chance to have their moment to shine!

very much in, problem being that bullheart pretty much needs to announce his contact details to a forum with over 1 squillion members...

Whilst I of course fully support the idea, I also fully support/understand if Bullheart doesn't want to be thrust in the limelight and be possibly forced to discuss his personal circumstances with the media, local press, etc, it ain't everyone's cup of tea. And going by the tone set in the link, it seems clear that the torch bearers should expect that. An internet forum can sometimes mislead in terms of someone's level of shyness or not wanting to be the focus of attention.

captain flasheart, walking on his hands with the union jack painted on his bare arse, plus the phrase "seb coe is a ????" (perhaps as a tattoo or a branding)

I'm in full support !

See, the reason I though of this and posted on here wasn't to do with the Olympics or any associated honour of carrying the torch.

It was because they asked for stories of truly inspirational people. I can't say I've come across many or any who I consider fitting of such an accolade.

Right - An explanation.

I honestly don't think I meet the criteria, although it's lovely of you to say so. I'd feel a bit of a fraud.

What about Dave Buchanan? That man makes me look like a tarts handbag. If you're talking inspiration, I think he hits all the criteria...

Plus I'd probably rant about the reduction in funding for cancer research for the whole 300m anyway... 😉

Don't get all forum-battle-epic-knob-hardened and start telling me what I think now Bullheart!

You definitely meet the criteria, 100% sure of this.

I respect your humility though (I won't mention that it probably makes you even more deserving), so, does anyone else fancy this? Just for a laugh like...

Cynic-al.

Courage doesn't begin to describe that man when you take into account some of the shite he invents and subsequently tests.
