Mooching around our local Booth's store today and was offered a taster of Pilton cider.
Mmmmm. Very nice. I'll take a bottle.
I only found out the price at the checkout- EIGHT QUID!
For a 75cl bottle of 5.5% cider.
It is nice but by Jesus that's steep.
In future I will ask "how much."

In future just put it down, and tell the cashier you've forgot your wallet.
Edit: Next time, buy it in bulk. As you then get a whopping 50p off a bottle...
