I'm trying to pull together a list of lesser known Christmas films.
They can be on a Christmas theme e.g. Polar Express or just traditionally shown at Christmas e.g. Wizard of Oz.

Any gems out there?

Ta

There are only two Christmas films and both are already mentioned above.

I thought Bad Santa was hilarious 10 years ago. How does it stack up in 2019?

EDIT: Bloody hell, it came out 16 years ago!

For me it's the original Jason and the Argonauts (with the Ray Harryhausen stop-frame animations) - it used to be on every Christmas Eve afternoon when I was growing up in the 70s

Sneakers. I've no idea why- there's some snow scenes, I suppose, but it is pure Christmas to me.

Fond of watching Die Hard on Christmas Eve, and even Die Hard 2 .

Watched Office Christmas Party last night, not as bad as it sounds, Jason Bateman, Jennifer Anniston and TJ Miller as main characters, plus lots of US comics as support. To be honest it wasn't even that Christmassy.

Rare Exports is fun too.

The Christmas Toy and Labyrinth are usually on at our house at some point.

I always associate the original Star Wars trilogy with Christmas, were they on a lot in the 80s?

The man in the Santa Claus suit 1979 includes Fred Astaire
The original 1947 version of Miracle on 34th Street. Not really lesser known, but I’d happily watch it again and again.

At this time last year a channel appeared somewhere in the depths of the Virgin TV guide called "Xmas 24" or something similar.

There are certainly some lesser known films on there. I for the life of me can't fathom who watches it. 24 hours of soft focus American drivel featuring that actor you can't quite place (did they have a bit part in Airwolf?)

Great film, but only feel good if you stop it about fifteen minutes before the end. It’s ****ing heartbreaking if not.

I’d vote for the original Clash of the Titans or any other Ray Harryhausen film. Always remind me of Christmas for some reason.

The Poseidon Adventure

I watched that as a kid and got proper stressed by the though of capsizing and being trapped in a ship.

It was then eclipsed by that scene in pearl harbour where the hand are scrabbling at the hole.

Channel 5 and it's family of channels on Freeview  are obsessed with Xmas and have obscure "heartwarming"  Xmas films on all the time from late October

The Star Wars trilogy used to be on every Christmas on ITV, one a day in the afternoon on the days inbetween 25th and NYE, that makes it a Christmas film

I think they still may even do this

I also think Harry Potter films usually do an outing as well
