You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
Two hours and forty minutes of complete silence until the stomping feet and muffled chorus singing at the finale....lovely change to be in a cinema where people stopped munching and slurping and were transfixed by the film.
Jackman, Hathaway, Redmayne, Barks....wow, you really sing! Crowe and co, pretty good as well and Baron Cohen and Bonham Carter make a great comic duo. So much better than I hoped.
Actually the last time that the cinema was so quiet was also a Tom Hooper film (The Kings Speech). I could see a few STWers manning the barricade singing "Can you here the people sing...."
Hmmm doesn't appeal to me never been into musicals.
Not a musicals fan but I quite liked the look of the trailer. Heard a shockingly bad clip of Russell Crowe 'singing' in it though.
could see a few STWers manning the barricade singing
especially when it's a barricade that got whooped within 24hrs 😉
Crowe's singing was mixed IMO but plays his part well. When I first saw a trailer, I was put off by what looked like an attempt to package a whole load of current starts into a movie. But actually IMO it works even if there are better singers out there.
I don't rush to musicals normally but would watch that again tomorrow!

[angrily]You've got cloth ears mate
Now i do like a good musical but this does not appeal to me
and i heard Jackman sign on some radio 4 show and he did sound very good
might see it over the weekend
JY, this might turn you off or not, but there are scenes that remind me of a mixture between a picket line and a boarding school buttery. Imagine that!!!!
At least he's not bothering to try and sing in a French accent. 🙂
If its anywhere near as good as R Kelly's Trapped In The Closet (what the clip I heard reminded me of) then maybe it's worth a watch.
Not convinced here.
No one told me it was a musical.
Apart from the daughter, i thought none of them could sing.
I have this to watch as a treat for end of exams later on... I hope it is as good as people are saying. Everything I have seen lately has been complete tosh.
Me and the Mrs went to see it t'other night. Gawd, it drags on. The 'songs' are more like somebody saying the dialogue. And then you get up to 4 of 'em singing at the same time. Nicely shot and all that but frankly mawkish pish, for me. When we were going there was a girl in front of us in tears. I thought 'Come on love, it wasn't that bad!' 😉
The sheer scale of the thing was amazing. I was transfixed by it to be honest, and I've had some of the songs 'Look down', 'One Day More' etc stuck in my head for three days now.
Singing was a bit shonky in places but that didn't spoil it for me, I'd rather that and absolutely perfect dubbed/autotuned singing.
The Misses went with her mate last night, she said it was brill - in fact her eyes were sore from the crying - thank god I didn't have to go, hate a weepy.
I'm not usually into musical but I lived it. What a breath of fresh air compared to the usual tosh that's in the cinema these days. Some of the singing is a bit shonky because it was filed live. Added to the gritty frame in my opinion.
