Incredibly sad news that Leonard Cohen has died. A great artist, and a truly gentle man. He will be much missed, but he has left an amazing legacy that will live long into the future.
RIP Leonard Cohen, Artist
😥
Spot on, a legend.
2016! The year that shouldn't have been!
Hallelujah Leonqrd thankyaa! rip
Raw, lucid and meaningful.
Everybody goes at some point, and I'm not sure it's right to feel sad, but I am. 🙁
Shocked when I heard it just now! At least one legend made it into old age, I guess. RIP
😥
Oh, he knew. Just listen to the first song on his last album, came out only a few weeks ago.
"Hineni, hineni
I'm ready, my lord"
A genius with words and music. R.I.P.
The guy opposite me just said "did he do Sweet Home Alabama?"
Oi! Who closed my thread?

Leonard did... first he took Manhatten, then he took your thread.
I was sure he was already dead. Inverse Cockerism!
I don't have heroes, but if I did, Leonard would be it.
Just got his latest album, he seems to be resigned to his fate.
🙂Leonard did... first he took Manhatten, then he took your thread.
He was one of the very few who just continued to get better as he got older. It's truly inspiring
Sad news
2016 you're just labouring the point now 🙁
Brilliant songwriter. One of my first musical loves.
Good posts, Wwaswas, keep 'em coming. I love reading stuff like that.
Saved my life on more than one occasion I reckon, Leonard's songs did. Going to crack open the fancy stuff tonight and have a good long session with him.
they're tears
I'm not usually one for welling up but...
Was first introduced to his music by an ex girlfriend in Van years ago. Always found his lyrics hauntingly beautiful, especially Who by Fire.
God loves a good Poet.
Rest gentle Man.

Duh, surely everyone knows he was Spock.
2016 will be the year for me where some reason there was a cull of the brilliant and rewards for the fool.
I'm stealing that for some future lyrics, Scud.
Thanks
A recent and very well written article :

I just can't express how very sad I am at the moment. Suzanne was played on the car radio as I was driving a while ago, and it was very difficult to see where I was going.
I have a strong tie and fascination with artists like Coehn from the '60s, my mum was only 19 when I was born in '63 and Cohen was someone she listened to. Suzanne was just played and it's dusty here too
Quite an accessible song, obviously to do it justice needs talent I don't have
Massive fan of Leonard Cohen.
R.I.P.

Cheer up, fella. His legacy should bring happiness, albeit dark happiness.
And seriously, I know you have to drive for a living, but driving whilst highly emotional is a tad dangerous.
Pull over and let it all out.
Working at home today, I've been listening a lot to his forgotten mid-period work.
Take This Waltz sums it up perfectly.
RIP.

Agree, for me much of Cohen is about acceptance of the futility of the human condition.
Nicely put
Some people are able to create beauty for everyone to have and enjoy. The world is simply poorer now that he is dead.
We should all try to be a bit more like Leonard Cohen, and a bit less... well, you know.
Thanks, Leonard, for your songs and all the pleasure they gave me, RIP.
Late going to the in laws while listening to I'm Your Man.
Leonard Cohen - what it means to be human in song.

Not entirely practical on the southbound M5. Wearing contact lenses didn't help much, either...
One of those moments that hit you when least expected, I was listening to Len's last album last night, may even have been around the time he died, I don't know what time it was in the US.
I feel incredibly lucky to have seen him perform, I won a pair of tickets through our regional newspaper to see him in Cardiff, and he was remarkable, every time one of his band took a solo spot, he took his hat off and stood to one side, watching them, then gave a little bow. What a gentleman!
I don't think we'll ever see his like again.
His legacy will live forever, for which we can be very grateful.
Amen, CZ.
I don't think we'll ever see his like again.
I disagree. I think it will surface many times throughout our short stay on this lump of rock.
BBC Four's been rescheduled tonight.
Gone at the very top of his game . RIP Leonard.
At least he was still able to make the high notes..... except that there weren't any high notes in his songs!
