Just had a listen to this. Cohen at his best.
A must have album!
I've got it, too. Huge LC fan, me. I wouldn't quite say at his best, but bloody marvellous for 77. Did you hear him on Jarvis Cocker's Radio 6 show? He's still funny and very self-deprecating. My partner reckons that it's false modesty and that he's full of himself but she's wrong. So there.
I fully agree with your partner.....
I didnt hear the Jarvis show? Is it available online on catchup?
I was maybe a little excited when said at his best. Not far off though!
It's my album of the moment though.
I'm also loving Serge Gainsbourg, Tom Waits and Jacques Brel. Proper legends!
"Because of a few songs, wherein I spoke of their mystery, women have been exceptionally kind to my old age........... "
I can think of worse things to be able to write in my 70s.

Jacques Brel, superb song writer. Do you listen in french or english?
Like the new Cohen album also.
I listen in French. My french is pretty poor so i do look at translations at times so I get the full idea.
Even when I don't have a clue what he's singing about it's still great.
I listened to leonard Cohen once.
But then I decided not to commit suicide so I turned it off.
I used to feel like that samuri. I think he's great now.
I too am liking the new album, a return to his past glory. Old Ideas indeed.
