I'd be interested to see what STWers score on the 8values quiz.
Usual thing, give your opinion on multi-choice questions and it attempts to describe your political view the closest match (general viewpoint, not party political). Only takes a couple of minutes.
For the record my distinctly woolly political views make me a "Democratic Socialist" apparently:
I'm a Libertarian Socialist, apparently.
Didn't take the test.
Rebellious Maverick apparently
Social Liberalist
I wonder what it says about my political leanings that I saw "Question 1 of 70" and thought "bugger that."

What Bodgy said. Social Liberalism too.
I'm so politically radical that the script on the page was disabled. Take that, Fatcha!
I have been accused by several people from this parish of being a "leftie" a "hand-wringing apologist", "libtard", "left-tard" and my favourite which was "professionally offended" (I loved that one!).

Struggled to answer a few of those TBH.

Yeah I generally hate being "I don't know/Neutral" on these things, but a lot of the questions in there made me go "Well it's just not that simple..."
Obviously designed for Americans 😉
Anyway, so far so predictable. You're all a bunch of virtue-signalling white-knight tree-hugging libtards.
Who'll be first to show their true colours?
😆
I'm a centrist apparently. Does that mean I should be voting Lib Dems?
Some questions were a bit flawed. Very binary against very complex and multi-facetted issues.

Funnily enough I am almost wwaswas...."Libertarian Socialist" indeed.
Very binary against very complex and multi-facetted issues.
Exactly. Good job we've never had to make that sort of decision when it really mattered...
There were a few where I thought, I don't understand the pros and cons of this question, I simply don't know enough about it to make an informed decision.

That makes you "Honest"
I don't think there is a political category for that.

I thought several of the questions were very loaded or difficult to give an answer to and however it's scored to end up with me as a (theoretical) liberal is complete nonsense. Oh hang on its aimed at Americans isn't it?

“Remoaner”
Oh hang on its aimed at Americans isn't it?
Yeah - there were a couple of questions which flagged that up for me.
Socialist libertarian apparently.
And yes some of the questions are not necessarily answerable, but it is trying to reduce a complex problem to 4 axes and a label.
Social Liberal.
No great surprise. Agree with Bodgy though, some of the questions were very simplistic
Closest Match: Social Liberalism
So i tried two further times and it seems I'm unable to return a result other than liberal if i agree with the U.N. (in the current world of nation states) and the idea of world government. That's despite the fact my answers run along the lines of "the government should be allowed to prescribe everything you do". I guess a world wide dictatorship with no private business is pretty liberal.
Libertarian Socialist. No surprise to me there.
Libertarian Socialist
My graph looks similar to half of them above
Is good to know I've found a home here among all the other lefty snowflakes. 🙂

F dat!
I've important loafing to do!

One of the right wingers will be along shortly boasting of their "Authoritarian Fascist" result
Aborted after about a dozen stupid questions. Glad that I did reading the results that most who finished got. Totally meaningless.
Centrist
Extra Large Power-Nazi with fries
To be fair it does say at the start that the Closest Match bit "is a work in progress and is much less accurate than the values and axes, so don't take it too seriously."
I suspect that is especially true given the slightly Americanised slant to "liberal" and "socialism".
So it's really more about how you score on the axes.
another Libertarian Socialist here

*Edit - Shall we all move to Catalonia?
I'm a centrist which surprised me. Thought many of the questions were flawed and inviting a more left of centre responce (possibly).
Interesting to complete though.
It feels like it was put together by American sixth form students.
I'm under Social Libralism, and yet I'd be happy to put most of you up aganst the wall if push came to shove 😆
I'm under Social Libralism, and yet I'd be happy to put most of you up aganst the wall if push came to shove
Doesn't mean you're not socialist, and frankly only a true liberal would care if the singular you was happy about it. 😉
Centrist.
About right for me.
Libertarian Socialist here too.
Either this place place is a nest of anarchists or those questions were a bit simplistic. Funny that it didn't ask a question which required some thinking, like 'Do you agree that representative democracy is the best way of making macro-level decisions'.
'Do you agree that representative democracy is the best way of making macro-level decisions'.
I've just found who would be up aganst the wall first 😆
Centrist
Crap questions though as forced to answer questions that make tills sense. Surprised that didn’t register libertarian and global views more.
social liberal
although I don't think I understood some of the questions. The one about Democracy being more than just decision making? I answered dunno to it. 😆

And there I was thinking this site had diverse opinions comrades
I guess i'm not as much of an individual as i thought - Libertarian socialism for me as well.
Gonna try it again and go full "Daily Wail" on the answers and see what i am..... i wonder if it will label me as a C'nut
EDIT : Well it appears if i go rabid at the mouth right wing on the questions i end up with - Capitalist Fascism or Trumpian Democracy (my interpretation)
I've just found who would be up aganst the wall first
Dunno if you're referring to me there but I'm firmly in the libertarian socialist (why not just call it anarchist?) camp. As for representative democracy? See the point above referring to the question about whether democracy is about more than decision making. It absolutely is more than decision making, as it should be an entire culture that respects and recognises the views of everyone on an equal basis. That's not what we have now.
I think there is often a tendency to associate two things which are not necessarily automatically connected. For example democracy is commonly thought of as right wing (except in America of course) and anarchy is commonly thought of as left wing.

"Classical Liberalism"...
I think this is sort of thing is pretty self selecting.
The swivelled eyed nutjobs probably think completing it involves taking part in a communist conspiracy.
And the hard core capitalists are too busy finding tax efficient instruments to waste time with this nonsense.

You mean the profile of regular posters to political threads. Different the the site / magazine overall I’d say
The exception that proves the rule. 🙂
At least we can say the test at least appears to be accurate.
Libertarian Socialism here too.
Strongly internationalist also - what was that about patriotism and scoundrels? The guy up there is soooo patriotic that he wants to leave if he has to pay a tiny bit more tax. 🙄
