Is the way these boots look a result of bad photography on the part of the seller, or bad drugs on the part the designer?

They look vertically squashed, the shots not the boots.

(Don't blame me if they are actually clown boots.)

Definitely a photography problem. Most of the side on pictures look normal, although the boots are slightly peculiar anyway!

The effect or foreshortening in this photographic representation has made those clown boots appear asymmetrically challenged.

Wide-angle lens, photo taken too close. Same effect with selfies making people’s noses look too big.
