Selling my Liebherr R 9800 (42100) for £250 plus P&P (or can drop off local to West Cheshire). Bought it from neilforrow of this parish back on page 27 of this thread and it's been sitting on the study floor since then. Mrs S has said time to move it on. Message me if interested.

@daffy good isn't it. Stand is a bit pants. Where did you get the dark red half cone from? They are like rocking horse poo since pixel Dan published his instructions.

This was my latest build.

535x378p

About the same size as the Jedi shuttle.

Collecting parts for this next.

800x450

Over 2ft long, 6687 pieces.

The Haul Craft looks really good.  Andor was possibly my favourite of the TV shows.  It really highlighted the malice and suppression of the Empire.

Picked up a Lego technic Lamborghini hurican 42161 in Tesco for a quite reasonable £28 while letting the wee one choose anthother little set. Reduced from £47 with Clubcard.
First Lego I’ve bought for myself since childhood despite having an extensive collection of blocks - quite shocked by the instruction manual - almost 200 pages!! Jeepers

My son has just had a 5th birthday party so I’m, sorry, we’re building a lot of Lego at the moment.  The manuals seem to have 50 pages of a single block per stage then the last page adds a gazillion blocks. No rhyme or reason to any of it.

Quick bit of advice please… my old man has asked me to sell his Death Star (10188).

it’s sat in his wardrobe since its release, unopened.

any idea on its value? I see some on eBay, but the prices range wildly. Or is my best bet to just stick it on a 99p auction and see what happens?

I don’t think he has any expectations on what it might yield.

any advice is appreciated 👍

Finished my Concorde last night, bloody hell it's massive! One of those builds that starts small, grows gradually and the in the last few stages it doubles in length.

Have also built the Classic Defender kit too, can't post any photos of them though as I don't have the buttons above the typing box and Postimages doesn't want to play nicely for some reason.

Got to decide on the next kit to do now, might be the Delorean but fancy something other than another car.

There's a preview of a new Artemis SLS Heavy lift (Lego 10341) set that's doing the rounds on various websites & SM. Looks a big build and contains the launch tower that many folk have been asking for to go with the Saturn V. Not sure if the two are compatible scale wise. Another big display piece for those of a Lego space persuasion.

I've had a great deal of fun with this Atreides Royal Ornithopter build. I reckon that around 80% of it was the internal mechanisms that control the extending landing gear / loading bay. The mechanism to retract and deploy the wings and finally the flappy wings lever that makes them go just like in the movie...although maybe not quite so fast. I haven't achieved any lift.....yet

Parked

Ready to go

All I have to do now is pluck up the courage to start partially disassembling it so I can fit the lighting set!

This is great news, it's next on my list after I finally get round to finishing the Galaxy Explorer which has been about 1/3 constructed for about a month now. I'm just hanging on for a good GWP or double insiders points or something before ordering it.

Atreides Royal Ornithopter build.

I've got mine waiting at home, but am holding off until I have all the bits to replace the red and blue bits which're visible from the outside.  Might also do some smoothing...

Ordered this fella today:

Trying to resist the UCS AT-AT that's reduced at the moment. Birthday next month but even if I could justify that amount on a Lego set, I've no idea where I'd put it.

The AT-AT is more placeable than many of the other models.  It's quite shelfable or can even stand on the floor.

it's about a foot shorter than the Saturn V so not really compatible unfortunately!

I bought the UCS Venator, 20% off in a few places including Argos which is a decent reduction on a £550 kit. That's half built on the coffee table, there's a 2 ft long hammerhead corvette half built in the garage and the structure of a UCS scale tie bomber on the go which I'm building from scratch, forgotten how much I like building from scratch and how long it takes.

This is still my favourite own creation, trouble is it was 5ft long and I couldn't lift it so eventually it had to be taken apart.

I picked up a Titanic off eBay last week. Seller didn't want to dissemble it, so it went cheap.

Then I had a long *fascinating* Teams meeting/briefing the other day and we were told cameras off to save bandwidth... So I pulled apart 2/3 of it in 5 hours. About 6,500 pieces I reckon. Took my fingers a good couple of days to recover! 😁

Totally agreed. I'd love to get it, but as ever space is an issue, plus I got the Interceptor from the smaller Tie Interceptor vs Fang Fighter set last year which is much more in scale with my non-UCS Tie Fighter, Tie Bomber, and X-Wing.

I avoid getting into Lego as it seems like an expensive rabbit hole to dive down. I'll maybe get a moderate set at Christmas to scratch an itch.

Every once in a while, there's a model that really piques my interest a that Colonial Viper is one of them.

I got the Lego Tuxedo Cat last week, it is pleasingly life-sized and reminds me of a much-missed cat my parents had when I was at school and at university.

Edit: I've had a few goes at uploading an image of the cat and it's not working. 🙁 Hopefully a direct link to a Discord URL will work for everyone.

@Harry_the_Spider

it’s a MOC by Davidup.  You can buy the plans.  Genuine Lego pieces, but I’ve now made quite a few alterations to make it more in proportion.  I’ve done the belly fairing and the side engines and as soon as I’ve got the parts, will extend the nose by 2cm.  I still also need to consider the centre engine intake which I’m not happy with.

@daffy That MK7 viper is all very well, but what happens when the cloudstrike software update goes wrong ? 🙂

On a slightly more relevant note - I really fancy building a viper, but don't have the parts needed to build the UCS scale one  - have you had a look at the 600ish parts MOCs on ebay and if so , what did you think?

I got a smaller viper mk1 from buildmoc, just cos I don't have any sort of usable collection to work from. It's... alright. Quite slabby and the central body construction was an absolute shitshow, the sort of final assembly that you're really just hoping it works and that everything lines up just so without pushing anything else out, took a few attempts. But it scratched my itch, for about £15.

https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005006499660208.html?spm=a2g0o.detail.pcDetailTopMoreOtherSeller.1.37c1sGp4sGp493&gps-id=pcDetailTopMoreOtherSeller&scm=1007.40050.354490.0&scm_id=1007.40050.354490.0&scm-url=1007.40050.354490.0&pvid=43f6089b-1881-4a51-8cd7-20d394e49ec5&_t=gps-id:pcDetailTopMoreOtherSeller,scm-url:1007.40050.354490.0,pvid:43f6089b-1881-4a51-8cd7-20d394e49ec5,tpp_buckets:668%232846%238113%231998&pdp_npi=4%40dis%21GBP%2161.77%2118.53%21%21%21560.53%21168.16%21%40211b618e17223107792421667ec214%2112000037426212569%21rec%21UK%21726428969%21XZ&utparam-url=scene%3ApcDetailTopMoreOtherSeller%7Cquery_from%3A

As ever not recommending this seller in particular, or this listing, it might be cheaper elsewhere. I'm not sure I'd recommend it as a build-your-own MOC, the basic design isn't that hot but as a cheap kit it was definitely worth it.

There's a backstory here.

I had a LEGO set that was missing from the official LEGO archive!

I was in Denmark on Thursday to deliver a set I owned that they were missing from their collection. It was a pretty special experience, and I had a great time.

I met with LEGO Idea House director Jette Orduna and Signe Wiese Bundsbæk, who is a corporate historian. (Signe is in the photo with me.)

The Byggepinner was a plastic building system patented by LEGO in Denmark, but only sold on the Norwegian market back in the mid-1950s for a short time. My set was found in some cardboard boxes in the attic of a Norwegian toy store which closed all the way back in 1959.

Someone must have copied those, because we had a little plastic  box of them as kids (70’s). Can’t see how we’d have had 50’s Lego ones. Wonder if my sister has them, she cleared the toys out of mum’s loft before we sold her house?

I've no idea, but I suspect that various brands of "construction toys" were popular for a while before Lego and Meccano gained dominance.

I had one which was already old when I got it given by an elderly neighbour.  It consisted of a green base with holes, metal rods to slot vertically into the holes, then plastic panels to slot in between the rods.  You could build houses and... uh, houses.  Thinking about it, it probably was too early for plastic even, maybe Bakelite or something.

I think my brother had that fire station, those roller shutters were a pain. I had a airport of similar vintage with a white plane, helicopter and green base plates.

I've hopefully added a titanic to the collection this week from eBay. Unopened for a fair bit less than retail. I say hopefully as only noticed afterwards it was a relatively new eBay account and the seller messaged yesterday to announce a dispatch delay! Eek.

I had the police station and petrol station (both bought second hand for presents one christmas about 40 years ago).  They are still complete and in my parents loft with a load of the road base plates and other cars/vehicles form that era.

Book about Lego “This first official book for Adult Fans of LEGO® takes the reader on a visually stunning journey from the very earliest hollow bricks to the complex shapes and building techniques of today. ”

Along with the Mint Sauce book appearing this month, things are starting to get expensive.

In other news I skipped the Forest Stronghold (too big and too expensive really), but due to my strong nostalgia for all things Lego Pirates have ordered A Minifigure Tribute from a BrickLink seller. Reckon it'll go very nicely next to my Black Seas Barracuda.
