honestly i dont know if its just me but had a guy booked in for 6 months.

on 3 rooms he took 2 days off to do his own bathroom half way through...

on one room you can see the joins in the plasterboard (is this acceptable ?)

on 2 rooms he didnt plaster the top 1/3rd as it was coving and he couldn't do it (after being round to quote)

finished not but its not the high standard "like glass" i was expecting.

On the flip side he was the only guy who turned up after trying to book people in from january!

Dont use anyone who doesnt use beads on corners - just dont. And dont pay extra for them either, they cant do the job without them.

I'll happily recommend Chris from https://www.crplastering.co.uk/ in Pudsey. Done various jobs for us over the years.

Ignore the rubbish website.

OP; As an ex plasterer, why wouldn't you put corner beads on?

Old buildings like mine have dowels in the corners - I would want this replicated in any new plastering - just a thought

@russianbob I'll take the name of the plasterer if they cover out as far as Skipton?

John Proud is in Harrogate and might travel. He’s a top guy and I’ve known him for 25 years.

Ah, got you TJ, but you do realise they are the forerunner to corner beads? That can be done but it is time consuming which is a cost. The groove beside the circular beading is also going to be thicker with a skim on it which having done it before, doesn't look the best. I have seen thin coat stop ends put at the edge of the round bead as well.

Because not all corners are sharp.

Even i managed to plaster a bullnose return transitioning to a sharp corner and about 50% of my plaster ends on the floor.

And as TJ says old hooses with half round. It might not be easier but it looks shit if one is clearly edge beading.

Had my house sand/lime rendered inside with dowels and lots of corners... did the plasterers head in. The emotional damage that he took for a non glass finish was something to behold
