I know a couple of residents, looking for quick advice.

My daughter's broken down, thankfully not far from UoW and so got into a carpark. AA on their way but from my diagnosis might be a serpentine belt tensioner or bearing .... but that's hard to diagnose from 100 miles away. If as seems likely they can't roadside fix, any recommendations for a Leamington garage to be moved to that will do a good value job and not rip off a 19yo student?

can recommend Cubbington garage services. Nice decent people and won’t rip her off but not open until Monday.

or crescent garage is closer to town centre

I live in Leamington so if she needs any help then just send me a message and let me know.

Thanks rockbus..... she's in classic Sth Leam student accommodation (just off Tachbrook in walking distance to the train and centre)

So Crescent may be the better bet. Waiting for AA to arrive and diagnose and they may also have recommendations too, but is Cubbington on a bus route back? Her b/f has gone to meet her so even if they did tow to somewhere (knowing won't be looked at until Monday) she's not dumped and could sort a Bolt, but if it gets desperate I'll pm you

STW - when we're not arguing we are an amazing community.

A friend swears by Shire Motors and I've always been happy with Warringtons (both Warwick rather than Leamington but if you've got to get the car from UoW - aka Coventry - down to Leam anyway then it may not be much more inconvenient)

AA man has arrived. Sounds hopeful, which is hopeful.

Was going to suggest him too. My mate Tom at Cliffe Autos works opposite him too.

Prognosis - not disastrous. Serpentine belt has got a loose tag where it's old and decaying which is what is causing the loud rattle, which he has snipped off but belt could go at any time. He said he'd follow them back to Leam if they wanted but his recommendation was to leave where it is (safe in Uni car park) and then speak to garages on Monday.

Have found one with decent reviews just the other side of Cannon Park, so will call them first thing, failing that getting advice from you all has been a great help and we'll call around to see if any can tow or collect it.

Also a couple of mobile mechs, might be the other way and get it sorted on site.

Just to round it off - nearby garage couldn't fit in but recommended a couple of mobile mechs which coincided with some I'd been googling. And lo and behold! one has managed to squeeze the job in this lunchtime so she's now barrelling around the Warwickshire countryside again like a good'un.

Chris Blundell, Canley area, recommended for good comms, fast service, agreed price with no trying to do the sucking teeth upsell to a poor student in dire need..... add to the recommendations above.

Seemed a fair price, maybe a bit of convenience tax but was still in the region of what i expected.

Thanks to all that offered advice and help too.
