Our static caravan uses propane for the boiler and cooker, and Mrs SR thinks she can smell a hint of propane emanating from behind the cooker for a few hours after use. Is this normal? If not, is it super dangerous?

I can not smell the propane anywhere else, but agree there is a slight smell in the vicinity of the cooker on a periodic basis, and it doesn't seem to last beyond an hour or three after use.

I am pretty sure that the BBQ at my house growing up did something similar, so I haven't been greatly concerned, but now I'm wondering if I should be...

You should check...could be a connection in the cooker between the control knobs and the burner allowing gas to collect in a void.

You can get a bubble detector that goes near the cylinder which reveals a gas leak by showing tell-tale bubbles of gas, but this won't be much help if its after a control knob as gas will be flowing out of the burner and would mask the leak.

The other way is to get some leak detector spray (or brush on solution) and test all the joints you can see/get to.

I've had a few customers like that in the past 😆

But yes, get it checked properly, not worth the risk really.

Get it checked by a LPG specialist. It could be a leak from some pipework, but it could also be that the control valves are leaking and need cleaning and re-greasing - for this you would need Cock Grease (honestly).
