Our apprentice is going and I'm not at all jealous!

Be watching it at the weekend though but need to remember to buy beer and snacks

I started getting into WEC a few years back and am really enjoying the recent resurgence with lots of teams racing in the top class.

I was hoping to go this year but have a family wedding to attend ☹️ Maybe next year.

What are the options to watch it on the UK?

What app you using @futonrivercrossing?

It should also be on Eurosport or at least it has been on Eurosport for years. Don't forget there's all the qualifying this week as well.

Qualifying has been dumbed down for tv. I probably won't even bother going to the track to watch it.

I’m going down on Thursday. We are camping at Mulsanne this year which is a part of the circuit I’ve never been to.

Looking forward to it.

I'll be following it via Radio LeMans as usual, should catch the last hour on Eurosport at my mum's house too.  Do need to do another trip to it at some point, last went in 2009!

Went in 2000, 2001, 2003 and 2005. Some of the antics round the campsites and local roads....

It was a bit of a race getting there too pre dual carriageways and no cameras etc...(not that I condone speeding)

One year I broke a rear strut taking a railway crossing slightly too quick...... lift back to previous village, lot of sign language and got the car picked up. Two of us sat by the side of the road getting bladdered watching everyone go past whilst our friends went on, dumped everything at the site then came back for us. Somehow cramped everything in to go home on the Monday, dropped me off in the village and my car was done a few hours later.

The next year one of our cars had the AC pulley explode which took the cambelt and engine with it. I towed it to the next village to find a garage.....turned out to be the same as the previous one!! Cue more faff, they eventually got a hire car and their's recovered back to uk a week or so later

Just remembered drinking a beer whilst riding my unicycle on the road round a roundabout as people were drifting round it.... oh to be young again

Rained 3 of the 4 years I think, not fun returning to a wet tent at 2am lol. Then too hot rest of the time

Might move my tv so I can see it from just outside my patio doors then I can sit in the rain with my fan heater pointed at me to try and replicate it

Went for a week back in 2016. Main memories are the noise of the Corvettes, how loud the wheel guns were when we were above the pits, mad Thursday evening with people doing burnouts etc and the atmosphere in the campsite. Some of the setups were unreal - full bar, three piece suite and a disco system in one of them!

Watching the French riot police firing tear gas at the illegal immigrants camp while queuing for the ferry was a bit of a shock though.

What happened to the number 12 Porsche?

Crikey, Porsche were nowhere until the last lap, taking pole 👍

It got stuffed in FP2, full monocoque up rebuild required. This gives them 24hrs to do a build that would normally take 3 weeks. Really hoping they get it done in time and they can give it a shakedown on the runway! (permission already granted for this)

Family here has been informed that fathers day starts at 1500 on Saturday. Been far, far too long since I was there - way back in '97 and '98. Some amazing memories

Have drunk far too much in Arnage this afternoon. At least I made it back to the campsite without falling over and ****ing my thumb and losing my glasses like my 80 year old dad though. He'll never learn 😅

Have seen the #12 car out on the track this morning for the15 minute shake down. De Vries drove his Toyota into the back of a Lexus, so can’t imagine he will be popular.

Several showers so far and more forecast, should make for an interesting race. During FP and Quali, no tyre warmers were allowed. If this is the case for the race, will be tricky overnight.

At the café next to the traffic lights?

(Had a great evening there back in 2018 when we went to the Classic LM.... Not the best walk back to the Porsche curves though 😬)

Apparently not De Vries’ fault.

No tyre warmers for the WEC season. Strange decision from a safety aspect 🤷‍♂️ Adds to the drama though!

I thought there wasn't for the other races but there was for Le Mans?

Not really keeping up with the rules mind you

TV coverage showed Kubica picking through cars, one on the left and the BMW on the right, staggered, and it looked canny tight.. then it was another minute or so before the coverage caught up and I realised it was more than a bit tight!

This restart has the potential to be the funniest thing ever

<edit- ah well, I was expecting literally everyone to instantly spin. This is fascinating with the tyre strategies though>

Also, #5 have clearly made a stinker of a decision, but Makowircki’s driving has been amazing to even keep it on the track!

Sad about the 46 BMW, I'm still a sucker for that old vale magic and it was definitely making it more interesting for a lot of people

Looking like a battle between Ferrari and Toyota for the win.

Gutted for the 83 :/ was really hoping that would win.

I'd not discount the Penske Porsche duo yet as I'm sure at least one of them are on a slightly different pit strategy.

Also rains due before the end which might benefit the Ferrari as they seemed to do well in the changing conditions with the softs

The commentators were saying a little earlier that the Ferrari's looked the most uncomfortable in the wet 🤷🏻‍♂️

It was the point where it's not quite wet enough for the rain tyres that they seemed to do well lastnight, or at least I thought they were.

Bit of a scare for the Ferrari's there but got away with a slapped wrist.... Wonder what it was?

One hour to go. All to play for. Ferrari lucky with a 5 second penalty for punting the Toyota and u lucky with the door of the other not closing.

Ferrari also lucky not to be penalised for a clear unsafe release 🤷‍♂️

Ferrari win for the second year in a row, further underlining the fact that Toyota can only win when there isn’t any competition.

Great race overall- so many cars in the fight in the last couple of hours- Hypercar is really delivering good racing.

Well that was wet and quite often cold too. We called it a night at 4am as the heavy rain started and the safety car came out. Kept the noise down at the campsite though 😆.

I’m looking forward to seeing some highlights as the weather meant there was a lot going on which I didn’t see (apart from the 4 hours of SC)

that depends on whether competition means punting the likely leader into the sidelines to only get a 5s penalty for a 30s gain 🤣. Was decent spectacle and I probably watched more than enough. Sad for the privateer Ferrari though.

The Ferrari factory team will have to be careful, Fred Vasseur was there, no doubt talent spotting for his little project.

That penalty just seemed like a total joke but I don't know the penalty rules well enough to know if they had much choice. A penalty that still leaves you with the advantage just isn't a penalty at all, it's like those £10000 fines they give sewage companies.

But a good if very disrupted race, and ridiculously tight at the end. Hypercar is bloody awesome now. Just a shame that the worst conditions came at the worst time, wet + dark must be incredibly difficult. I did like those spells when they were all mixed up on tyres and suddenly a hypercar on drys was barely faster than a GT because they're so crippled at low speed (and I think the GT class has driver aids?)

I'd love to actualyl go one year but that looked pretty miserable 🙂 Plus, it always seems like you almost need the first year just to learn how to even spectate?

Miserable? It was ace. Loads of wine, beer, cheese, BBQs, live music and a bit of car racing 🙂

Have to agree that 5 sec penalty for Ferrari didn’t seem enough!

Porsche over filled their no6 car on the last pit stop, I think they had 26% energy left at the end.if they’d put in 20% less fuel they’d have got on the podium.

Have to say i think the Ferrari penalty was OK. For me a racing incident and as it was at the point where the conditions were changing it probably played into their hands

if they caused a collision then it should be at least a drive through.  Hypercar is great though.  Apart from the useful SC interlude to get some snooze there was stuff going on all the time.

Spectating is easy provided you're prepared for the camping side.  that was one of the worst weather weeks I've had there but it wasnt even that bad with the worst weather over the race.  But we have a gazebo to hide in and wet weather gear for when it rains trackside.  the last couple of years have been mid heat wave and have been unpleasant in other ways.
