afternoon all,

Does anyone have any of any tips to speed up an LCL sprain? NHS folks have told me it isn't bad enough to need an ultrasound (Which is good I guess). Whilst I got given some advice on theraband use & heat (over ice as I did it 8 days ago), any experience or advice appreciated.

Very much walking with a solid limp right now!

Obviously I've timed this terribly well with a beautiful bank holiday weekend when I could be riding...

Thanks

I'd just follow the doc's advice, sprains can take a while to heal so be patient. And when you do get back on the bike, maybe try using flat pedals, avoids the twisting out of the pedals.

If it's any consolation the LCL was the quickest of my tears to heal, very gentle turbo'ing after the initial pain subsided seemed to work really well. (I ruptured PCL and tore ACL, MCL and LCL about a year ago).

My experience of the NHS is that unless your leg is hanging off, they will send you on your way with ice, a generic knee leaflet and a teraband  - and hope for the best.

If possible for you, I'd probably find a good private physio.
