WFH last night, headphones on, what to listen to? I found myself heading towards the albums / songs / artists / playlists that are ideal for the quiet, slouching on the sofa, lazy night in as opposed to anything that makes me want to dance / jump around / headbutt walls (delete as required)

Massive attack - Mezzanine

Horrible Crowes - Elsie

selection of more downtempo Moby numbers

Mogwai

Black Pumas

STW I need inspiration what are your lazy, complete chill out go to albums / songs / artists

First that springs to mind is anything by The War on Drugs. Love those albums.

Portishead are a good call but I’m quite selective of songs when I’m in the mood for them

war on drugs also another good call, loosely related but this crops up on a few of my own playlists

Bright eyes
Silver Jews
Nolan Porter
The Milk Carton Kids
Kings of Convenience
Unknown Mortal Orchestra
SAULT
Tempesst
Thee Sacred Souls
Bahamas
Skinshape
The Felice Brothers
Dr Dog
Air
Surprise Chef
Charlie Crockett
Night beats
Gabriel's
Boozo Bajou

I listened to Husker Du's New Day Rising while cleaning the kitchen yesterday morning.

Probably not the vibe you were after but, bizarrely, I find it relaxing!

Cafe del mar! For the life of me I couldn’t recall what those compilations were called, I was googling “Ibiza coffee shop” and all sorts of weirdness, think I could find them…could I bugger ha ha

Really liking Gilmour's new one, 'Luck and Strange'. John Martyn always a good shout, also Khruangbin. Most of Little Feat's output, both pre and post Lowell George.

Been digging out some classics lately.

Kid Loco's remixes compilation is my ultimate lazy album:

https://www.discogs.com/release/2397-Kid-Loco-Jesus-Life-For-Children-Under-12-Inches

The Mogwai remix is peak early noughties easy listening/trip hop crossover. Makes me want to neck an E just so I can listen to it on the comedown:

Love 5:55... one of Air's best (yes, I know, not under their name).

Contrepoint by Godin is also good background brunch music... sort of a Switched-on-Bach brought up to date(ish).

Some of the stuff on Music for Museum as well... Angel Palace & Octogum... blatant rip off of Eno & Krautrock stuff... lazy good.

I'm ashamed to say it took me a few hearings to twig - just one day I went " hang on..."

Cripes! So many albums and artists that I know (knew) and love and didn’t even think of / had forgotten about, this thread has been a bit of a brain shake

I’ve started a “let’s reacquaint myself with some stuff I haven’t  heard in a while” playlist on the strength of this thread, currently sitting at 800+ songs ha ha

theres also a few names there that I don’t know and are now on the “must listen to that” list

The first Above & Beyond: Acoustic album is good for this.

Depending on your mood (i.e. maybe not if you're deep in a hole) The Midnight Organ Fight by Frightened Rabbit I find oddly chilled.

Massive Attack - Mezzanine - This has been a go to since I discovered the album in 1999 or something
Elder - The Gold & Silver Sessions - A new (well, two years ago) find and one that I can never regret. It's awesome

+1 for Trinity Sessions Cowboy Junkies. Very laid back Sunday. As was their earlier offering Whites Off Earth Now!!

OK, they're just a laid back band.

+1 for Solid Air too.

I would possibly also go for some "cool" country like Buddy Miller or some of EmmyLou's output (Red Dirt Girl is a great album). Oh and some acoustic Richard Thompson.

Might I suggest a spot of Gershwin?  For some reason I have always associated him with weekend mornings.

Sault is a very good call... especially the big choral stuff... AIIR (or Air2, or whatever it's called).

First System7 album was just called System7... and was very, er, Orb adjacent. I still play it often.

Odd trivia.. the Zoe hit single "Sunshine On A Rainy Day" came out of the same sessions (IIRC).
