Single bloke here - I just binned a fitted bed sheet. It had shrunk about 6" long ways and about 3" across. It's pure cotton and was only washed at 40, according to instructions, without an excess of detergent, and was dried naturally.
Is there anything I could do to avoid a repeat?
Thanks all.

Buy better sheets.
Try something from John Lewis.

Don't buy fitted sheets?
We use flat sheets and tuck them in under the mattress.

Fitted sheets are the devils work. I buy king size flat sheets for a double. 0 hassle.
