Our chemist doesn't think the NHS are providing any more testing kits. The Gov website says unavailable for delivery.
Anyone got a good source of credible, cheap LFT's? Just for general peace of mind rather than any certification for travel
thanks
Last I saw the places doing the boosters had tons. Are they still open for business?
IME you can still order them online but you do it early in the day as they are frequently saying they haven't got kits available 'at this time'.
I still need to do them twice a week for work (NHS) so unless they're restricting the test kits to NHS workers OR changing the rules about NHS staff testing, they will have to keep making them available, I'd have thought.
My partner works in a college and they are stopping providing them for free.
You can still get them but I believe you'd have to pay.
Sorry, there are no more home delivery slots for these tests right now
The 119 service does not have access to more home delivery slots right now. You cannot order tests from NHS 111 or 999.
Rapid lateral flow tests
Try again later.
In Scotland, Wales or Northern Ireland, you may be able to pick up tests from a collection point near you.
That last bit suggests to me that in England pharmacies are no longer receiving test kits from the NHS, and what your chemist told you is correct.
I ordered a kit this morning off the gov website
Going to still need them as work in the NHS
I've heard, if you time it right.. you can still order from the govt site. If you can be arsed to keep trying.
None available to order from gov site yesterday morning, but ordered ok around lunchtime. Last free kits for many in England at least can be ordered from gov site a week tomorrow (31st March) and you can only order a new pack every three days.
Case numbers in England can be expected to drop rapidly then...
I tried yesterday and again this morning around 7am. Wife and I both gps in England.
So soon we will have to turn up to work not knowing our covid status. Fine. I’ll be wearing a mask. 50% of patients seem to not think they need to when they come to see me though.
Numbers will indeed plummet. Will be interesting to see what happens to deaths and admissions.
Clearly it’s not fine but I don’t have time to keep logging in to see if I can get some more tests.
They need to send them to all nhs workplaces if they want staff to use them.
Will be interesting to see what happens to deaths and admissions.
Admissions already increasing rapidly in our hospitals (Yorkshire)
It’s been hit and miss ordering online. Managed to get some last week which was lucky considering both me and the Mrs tested positive.
Here in Portsmouth the council have said they will continue to provide up to 5 tests a week free for PO postcode residents until the end of June.
50% of patients seem to not think they need to when they come to see me though.
I assume you’re not able to refuse to see them if they can’t be bothered to wear a mask?
I've got 12000 according to my inventory sheets. We can't give them out though. Only for workforce testing. And we close next Thursday.
Out of 20 people on site 5 have just tested positive.
I assume you’re not able to refuse to see them if they can’t be bothered to wear a mask?
Most patients will put a mask on if you ask, in fact I can’t recall the last who wouldn’t. I also wear at least an FFP2 mask in clinic and on home visits.
You only get them now if your vulnerable or NHS staff and the login now links to your NHS Online account (different to what was your covid test kit login and is the one the links to your GP surgery etc) and if you're not on the list you get the no delivery slot message.
I ordered some yesterday as I am classed as vulnerable and got them fine, my colleague tried at the same time and got the no slot message.
I just don't think they've updated the message fully to just say no.
Dannybgoode is that a fact straight from a horses mouth or one of those heard it from a friend urban myth type things?

Our trust is advising us to order them via the government website - is this dependant on which trust you work for?
Just ordered some off the .gov site and it went through fine. Scotland though if that makes a difference

Straight fact. Except the bit about the message of no slots for people who don't qualify it says all on this on the lateral flow ordering site.
And this is why it's now linked to your NHS login so it can cross check whether you're 'vulnerable'
I ordered a box on Tuesday morning when I got up at 8:15. That’s was upon discovering The Wife was still at home instead of on her way to work. She”d just tested positive. The box was delivered this morning, Wednesday.
No issues ordering in Hereford, England.
This link may help. Looks like the govt has tried to sneak the change in a week or so early...

I expect so.
From the first page of the .gov online ordering system…
In Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, lateral flow tests are available for everyone.
NB Boots (for eg) are now selling LFTs for £2 each or £9.80 for 5 and with options for a 2 and 4 pack also.
NHS staff here, my trust is now using a spit test. No one has confidence in the results
Thanks All
Local chemist was quite adamant that they would not be receiving anymore from the NHS.
I found some online but dannybgoode's Boots price is much cheaper.
I'll sell mine for £1.50 each. Any offers!?

* scrolls back up to check if you were the poster with 12,000 in their hands *
Nah, I've got 7 😆
I ordered a pack for my 90yr old dad on Saturday morning at about 8am. No problem at all. Perhaps I was lucky or did they take into account his 1931 birth date? They arrived on Monday.
Edit: I just looked at the site-there is a new page compared to Saturday asking if you are in a vulnerable group before carrying on to the order pages
@jimw - assuming you ordered under his login that would be taken into account and note the formal change to who can get free LFTs doesn’t come in until 1 Apr.
Just looks like govt is trying to restrict supply now a week or so early

This.
Two weeks from now you can expect the Tories to boast about how they've beaten Covid and cases have all but vanished.
...Right up until the deaths start to pile up again as everyone stops testing before visiting their vunerable relatives and friends.
Other half picked up a batch just now from local chemist, I'll do the same asap.
Case rates in the Western Isles and the Scottish Highlands are through the roof. I'd hypothesised previously that areas that had escaped high infection rates in waves 1 and 2 were being hardest hit as the virus was finding more targets. I'm not sure that should still hold true given vaccination rates and newer strains, but it might still have some validity.

Was in the chemist today, no kits available and sign saying from 1 April they won't be provided with any more free ones.
Get in there quick as from 18th April covid test centres have been instructed to STOP handing out LFD’s
I know we are are happy to give 2 box’s per customer at the gate
I ordered a box online this morning. I've been getting a box every 3 days since they announced it works stop. I've had s couple of days I've bit been able to get an order in. Local PCR site (Streatham common) doesn't have any. I know as I had the whole family in there Saturday to confirm the positive lat flow results! Not tried local chemists for a while, they've had limited stock/none since before Christmas.
I try a couple of times a day when my 3 days are up.
My last order came today. Packaged with a postal PCR kit they asked me to do LFT and PCR at same time - to compare results / accuracy apparently.
Being a good citizen I did both tests at same time. There was some special website to register the PCR on. The website was linked using bit.ly BUT was case sensitive so when I first entered the website bit.ly/speciallftwebsite I got warned it was probably malicious. So then I did bit.ly/RanTCASespecialwebsite and it worked.
So then I had to enter the barcode of the LFT AND PCR. Would it take the barcode / serial number of the LFT not a chance. So I had no way of registering the LFT / PCR test for this survey. More gov money wasted. LFT reported fine on the main 'report LFT' website. Grrrrr.
I’ve just ordered some tests. There was a new question- do you work for the nhs and take part in staff testing programme. Didn’t get asked that yesterday
Just managed to order some as well. Not so important for me but the 3 year old tested positive a few days ago and we’ll need a negative test to get her back into nursery!
Just tried and got an order on the Gov web site - first time this week. Thanks soundninjauk
Popped into my local pharmacy (Scotland) to pick up a prescription and they were still handing out lft kits. Limited to one box per customer but still plenty in stock and still free up here for now.
None to order for me 🙁
None available for me to order today. Wife and 2 kids now free after 2 negative tests. Me, faint line still!
None here - I order them mainly as my wife has to do two tests before visiting her mum in a care home. The rest of us don't test unless we are a close contact - wife had to last week as boss picked it up again.
Keep trying … I managed to order Thursday after a week of non available
Turned up this morning
Fingers crossed I’ll manage to order another pack before 1 April when they are meant to stop as my parents are very vulnerable and I test before every time I visit them
Aha! Order in. Must have tried 5 times over 12 hours today but order now in. One more chance before the lock
Just ordered for me & Mrs Efg. Which is good seeing as I’m still positive after day 8 & running out of kits.
Apparently if I’m still showing pos after day 10 I can still go back to work, driving a minibus with SEN children on board.
Council guidelines, why should I worry.

Yeah, me too

It was there on Thursday when I ordered. Might be "logged in" dependant - I was
