You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
It's peak season so we don't stand much chance I don't think. We normally drive down to the Alps (we live in Scotland) via Alsace/Germany etc. However, we're pretty easy - some kind of biking is good enough but crucially we just want fairly cheap with lakes and mountains etc. nearby.
Any suggestions? Thanks in advance for any help.
Harwich to Esbjerg, Copenhagen to Oslo, Norway. Find that big gorge place maybe.
Trolltunga?
Just go to the Alps. The PDS is quite drivable and the scenery stunning. There should still be plenty of apartments left. If you are prepared to keep it very basic they are reasonably priced. Self cater to keep costs down. Multi pass will give you pedestrian lift access and swimming pool use for €1 a day. Bike lift passes are expensive, but if you don't need to ride every day you can save a bit.
WHOAH, amazing. I'll check both of these suggestions out!
Ferry Newcastle to ijmuiden, drive to the hartz mountains in northern Germany. Plenty of riding, campsites, pretty little towns and beer. It's also quite cheap - much cheaper than France. Might not be mountainous for you though (make the Cheviots twice their height and cover the place with 100' pine trees)
Norway's beautiful. Just bonkers expensive: £15 for a kebab, £12 for a beer, £30 for pasta, worst hotel I've ever stayed in (excluding one in craigavon with a bullet hole) £130 per night.
Never thought of Harz - my Dad always went on about it because they bred canaries there (!) but never been, might be a shout for a few days, thanks.
Is the Esbjerg ferry running again? It is ruinously expensive.
Could do Denmark,Sweden and then ferry to Helsinki. Helsinki in the summer time is a blast. Loads going on and 16 hrs of daylight to do it in.
