I've bored the family to death with my tale of seeing an amazing Fireball about 19:45 looking SW. Moon on the left with Jupiter above it to the left. Now to bore you lot:-)

A fireball came (what looked liked straight in front of me)

Lit up the sky around it with an awesome tail and then disappeared.

It came out the Pisces constellation direction.

Did I mentioned it was AWESOME.

🙂

PS Any way to report it ? I guess I was the only who saw it.

my sketch fireball

Sure it wasn't just the 19:55 Ryanair 737 from Dublin on approach to Bristol Airport? Trail of flames from a Boeing sounds about right. Unless the lit up tail was an EasyJet (orange, obvs).

Sounds awesome though!

We picked one up on our CCTV a few years back - it was on the news and gave a time, so just checked the CCTV recordings.

I saw one a few weeks back. Gobsmacked I was, doing that "did anyone else see that?" thing like a nutter. No bugger would believe me.

I saw what I thought was a flare above Caerphilly last night - was around the same time. Could have been it?

Interesting - we have a good view of that direction from where we live and pulled into the road last night at that time. My OH said she saw something bright low in the sky in that WSW direction that was then gone a moment later.

Only 20 mins before we had a great view of the starlink satellites for the first time.

Coming into land in St Lucia I saw what I thought was a plane in the sky.
Then it exploded with a turquoise flash with a white plume as it disappeared.
No one else saw it.

Yessssss!

I was convinced I saw a hefty looking meteor/fireball/space thing driving out of Huddersfield last night - Low in the sky (I was looking through the windscreen of the car), facing exactly SW, between 1945 and 1950 (I have a Screwfix transaction to prove it).

EDIT - yes, Huddersfield 200 miles from mid-Devon

Report it here

https://fireballs.imo.net/members/imo/report_intro

When I saw one I thought I’d exaggerated it. Turns out hundreds of other reported it which I found rewarding. I got to see its reconstructed track on Google maps

Saw one a while back bivvying on Dartmoor, it was enormous like an explosion right above me and my buddy. First we thought it was some military rocket or something on a range but next day it was all over the local news, loads saw it. Big meteor burning up apparently. I can still picture it clearly, you could almost feel it it was so big

Incredible

Would’ve been brilliant if it was a decent size meteor that smashed into downtown Newport, bounced, and came to rest in Cwmbrân precinct*. Both could do with lick of paint/obliteration.

*There are 3 Greggs stores in Cwmbrân Precinct. One would surely have survived. That’s genius planning!

Perhaps a photo would have been better to convince people than the sketch op? Are you a courtroom sketch artist?

@burko73

I couldn't whip it out fast enough....the camera that is 😉

I had to remember it with my eyes on this occasion.

PS I noticed all the press images are stock. At least the sketch is the most realistic I have seen so far, even though I did it myself right after the event.
PPS Court artist, now that would a great job. Something I might enjoy :-).

Same chunks, I wonder if it was a bunch of them around that time.
