Im currently making a chair out of used and recycled bike chain. Im finding it hard to find the large quantities i need. Ive been round all the LBS but still havent got enough. Does anyone know if theres a recycling centre for this kind of thing? Cheers

I've got 4/5 old chains, pay postage and they're yours. Email in profile.

Local motorcycle dealers? Assuming you can live with different widths.

Lots of places now have bike recycling charities (Such as the BikeStation in Edinburgh/Perth and NewStart in Inverness). Sure if you contact the nearest one to you they can put some knackered chains aside.

Isn't relatively valuable as scrap? Especially if you have a lot of it? It is quite heavy.

Ok cheers will have to check some of these places out. Its gonna be in the style of the panton chair. I plan on welding each individual link into a rigid shape.

I use my spare bike chain to link my nipple rings, never short of a piece on a ride then.

Based on an HG40 chain I calculate that at over 230kg - how portable is this chair going to be? 😯

Your going to need a fork lift truck to pick it up so not very portable or practicle. Ive seen work like that before it just looks stunning
