Ok, I'm using a PC with 1920 x 1080 res on my primary TFT during the day, and then a laptop with native 1920 x 1080 at other times. Why is it that I actually get more "info" on the screen on the PC than I do on the laptop?

E.g. PC Outlook = shows maybe 35 folders and 20 emails. If I open the exact same view on my laptop I'll see something like 30 folders and 17 emails! Another e.g. Chrome might show say 30 tabs on PC but only 26 on laptop!

It's like my laptop is running say 1800 x 1000 instead of 1920 x 1080. Have installed a couple of different rules apps to measure pixels etc and both PC and laptop show the exact same 1920 x 1080.

Will post a pic if need be. Can't find anything on Google and it's doing my head in.

Any ideas? Ta

Are they both at native res? Check in Display Properties.

Yep, both set to 1920 x 1080. Hence it doesn't seem logical. Both are set up identically in terms of tabs/menus/toolbars/taskbar sizing etc.

windows lets you alter text size and icon izes on the desktop

firefox (and presumably other browsers) will let you view at a "zoomed-in" resolution and will remain there until you change back (ctrl and minus or ctrl and plus)

(or sommat)

But this is affecting all software, I just gave Outlook and Chrome as examples. It's like the whole screen on my laptop has had some kind of 110% zoom put on it.

What version of Windows?

You can change the DPI on displays:
Display Properties->Settings->Advanced->General

Check they are both "Normal size (96dpi)"

Found it ... Graham was nearest: display settings were still on default 125%. I'm sure when I checked this yesterday I spotted the "default" and ignored the option to switch to 100%

All working fine now, albeit bloody small on a 15" screen!

Cheers guys
