I stupidly tried to replace the stupid broken keyboard on my stupid laptop my stupid self.
Got the keyboard out and managed to snap the little bit of plastic that retains the ribbon cable against the mother board. The new keyboard works if I wiggle the cable in exactly the right way but there is no way that tape will hold it in place.
Laptop is a HP G61.
I want someone to fix it rather than try and source the part and do it myself because my temper may get the better of me and I could hurl the damn thing onto the M60.
So, who is good with laptops in North Manchester?
Regards,
Stupid of Manchester.
There is company that repairs laptops but you would need to head into Manchester. Can't remember the name of the company but the are on Lower Ormond St, just off Chester St near What I used to call the John Dalton Building of Metropolian University. Ask for Felicity she should be able to help.
Is the piece of plastic you refer to the bit that folds up 90 degrees to allow the ribbon cable to come loose? if so we've got a dead Compaq at work that I can spare that bit on (I'm the resident IT geek). If you want the bit, or want me to fit it for you I'm sure we can get that sorted... I'm Oldham area, or city centre Manc for work.
Cheers
Keith

Thanks Keith. Dropped it off at the local HP/Compaq retailer earlier to be fixed.
