Over the last week or so, my little Samsung notebook has started having trouble streaming videos. They are either very jolty or sometimes the audio plays as normal whilst the visuals 'stick' and refuse to play at all.
The machine is only 6 months old or so. I tried downloading the latest version of flash and have up to date antivirus, run CCleaner etc - any ideas how i can fix it?
I really want to watch that new Matt Hunter video!
is there a lot of stuff running in the background???
not usually...
Which antivirus?
microsoft security essentials
Good answer.
Windows 7 presumably?
Have you installed any new software between it working and it being problematic?
Any other symptoms? Is it sluggish in other areas or just video?
Which web browser? (Try another one)
Yep, Windows 7. Can't recall installing anything new...
It plays videos off the harddrive with no problems, just seems to struggle with streaming.
I normally use firefox. Watching using Google Chrome works better, although still not perfect. Perplexing...!
Clear out your cache... of porn
reached ISP download limit ? and you are being throttled ?
I have the same or very similar problem, not sure what caused it, but it started after I installed the free windows7 upgrade from the original Vista which came with my laptop, also had to go wireless at the same time (previously using plug in speedtouch USB modem thing). I've tried IE, Firefox and Chrome and tried switching off wireless and using the ethernet cable that came with the router, all to no avail.
I've put it down to the piddling 1Meg of download speed I get and/or the data getting throttled at the router or something. In my case, I'm def not overusing my download limit.
I have thought about buying another router to try, but I'm intending to ditch my ISP shortly, so you usually get a router included in any new ISP deal.
Highclimber, doesn't ccleaner clear out your cache?

..Just hack into your neighbour's wifi and use that instead 😉

I've actually managed to do that, he gets 6Meg speed with Orange (to my pathetic 1Meg) and we don't have cable down our street, so it must be by exactly the same phone lines. Unfortunately, he switches it off when he's not using it.
*wonders* if BAnana lives next door to legs ?
CCleaner clears out caches and i did that again today.
Hmm, well i've definitely not breached my usage limit, but it sounds most likely that it's throttling of some kind i suppose. Ho hum, might get on to my ISP.
Cheers for the ideas chaps.
