I've been using a USB speaker with the laptop for years. Until last week.
When I plug the speaker in it gets power, but there is no "jingle" to tell me that it has hooked up.
Speaker is plug and play.
USB ports all work with other devices.
Speaker works on other computers.
Other speakers don't work on the laptop either.
Any ideas?

Check soundcard properties. Output should be set to speakers. Might be on headphones or muted...?

Forgot to add. Laptop international speakers are fine as is the headphone jack plug socket.
