With a £350 max budget?

Intended usage? Surfing internet, downloading/uploading Garmin (m/c sat nav), music files, a bit of word typing.

Not really, the processor is fine for your use.

But a smaller SSD drive instead of a dog shyte 5200rpm 1tb HDD will feel much more sprightly.

Could also do with 8gb RAM rather than 4gb as Web browsers can chew up a lot or ram if you have lots of tabs open and also have a few documents open, not the end of the world though.

SSD is an absolute must and you can find one for the same money.. Probably not at PC world though!

If you can stretch your budget a bit, this is a MUCH better machine. There might be better deals elsewhere but just for instance

Prefer a 15.6 monitor though.

Or this one of you want a bigger screen, it's a bit cheaper but slightly lower spec..
Still fine for your needs if you can cope with a 120gb SSD. Depends how much storage you need really.

I'd not buy a cheapish laptop from Currys/PC World. You'll get the least processing power, least RAM and least HD for your money.

Have a look a refurbed business machines from companies like Tier 1.

Last year I got a B grade (few scratches, but good condition) 12" HP Elitebook, 4gb ram, i5 processor, etc. for £115. I upgraded the RAM and added a 250GB SSD myself for under £100.

Far, far better in every way than any £200-300 laptop from a store would be.

Here you go....15.6 screen, upgrade to 480gb SSD, 8 GB ram, i5 processor for £350.

New that would have been a £1200ish machine.

Yeh that's pretty good. My mate has an almost identical elite book, can't remember if it was A Grade or B grade but it looks pretty much brand new. Nice laptops.

That's the ideal laptop for you really, if you can cope with it not being box fresh.
