Apologies for the constant threads, there's been a lot of IT work chez grips lately.
Small laptop - when I plug a USB hard drive into either USB port, it cuts powere immediately. Clearly some kind of overload protection. It doesn't do it with a USB flash drive. I may well have overloaded it in the past with an external DVD drive, but maybe not as I'm sure that had previously worked.
Anyway, what's weird is that if I plug the drive in BEFORE I boot, it works perfectly.
Some online sources seem to suggest that the USB overload protection might be a software thing..
