I'll try to keep it brief & factual and thanks for any advice - I've googled, lots.
Toshiba p50c-18k
Decided in last month or so that if it's more than a metre from the router (Plusnet fibre), it's going into meltdown and can't see it.
Work laptop, multiple phones etc have no problem with finding a strong signal from the router, even from outside.
It's just this bloody laptop - it's been giving me connectivity issues for over 6 months, including Bluetooth, if this is helpful, but it's sooo bad now.
I've:
Changed router
Removed hardware device (via windows) & reinstalled.
Rolled back previous versions of Windows.
Removed everything non-standard from software
Stared at it disapprovingly
Reinstalled the wireless drivers from Toshiba
I'm not exaggerating when it can only handle a metre away, and even then it's only on a weak signal.
It never used to be like this, so something's changed/keeled over.
Any ideas that I've not tried?
Thanks.
Sound to me as if the laptop WiFi hardware might be faulty. Does it work on other systems? Since it's a work laptop, can you just tell work you think the WiFi card is faulty and please replace it?
Does sound like a faulty wireless module. Can you try disabling Bluetooth?
Do you have a space wi-fi adapter you could try?
Does it work ok if plugged into the router by ethernet cable?
Sorry & clarification that this is my personal laptop. Work laptop is fine, as has every iteration of work laptop that I've had recently.
It's just this laptop (mine) that's decided to be crap.
All fine if hardwired info router.
Edit: WiFi card, eh? I assume that means taking the laptop apart. 😬
I'll Google, thanks.
Worth looking to see if you can replace the wifi card - many you can, and you can access them from the back where you get access to the HD and memory.

Or
You could take a punt on one of these...
You might have to disable the internal one to stop it trying to use that in preference....
The wifi cards are normally in the base of the laptop, with wires to antenna in the screen.
I’ll go with one or both of those wires being damaged in the hinge area, or if you’re lucky just pulled out of the card end.
Find the service manual for your laptop and have a look, or post a link here.
