Looking to book Lapland for 2013 before the kids start trying to convince us Santa is all made up.
Whats the view from those of you that have been before re: package deals or booking the trip yourself separately.
Also, any recommendations regrding resorts, hotels, travel companies and must-do excursions ?

Went with Canterbury Travel and had a great time. Lived in our own log cabin in the woods and sledged the kids to the hotel for feeding. Did husky rides, reindeer sledges , skidoos, adventure quizes etc. Was great fun. Saw the main man in a mystical place outback. Very weird place with grey light only but was worth the effort to do it.

Don't try and do it as a budget day trip - you - and more importantly, the kids - will be too knackered to enjoy it.

Don't go in December - it will be dark apart from a couple of hours in the middle of the day.

Huskies rides, skidoos etc all great fun, but be aware that the windchill when moving at any sort of speed when the actual temperature is -28c is frightening - leave no gaps in your layers!

Try and fly from East Midlands airport - we went 2 years ago and East Mids was the only UK airport open when we flew back, due to an inch or two of ice and snow. Strangely, we had no problems landing in Lapland, and they had chuffing loads of the stuff.

It's a great trip, spend as much as you have to, they will only do it once (probably)
