Right, I figure a lot of other cyclists are quite tall and thin (I'm 6'4" and 40" chest)

Any suggestions where to look for a nice grey/charcoal overcoat that will have long enough sleeves? Ideally in the sales...

Nowhere seems to stock anything long enough...

I've been looking for several years (I'm 6'5") and haven't found anything affordable yet 🙁

Nope. You'll find stuff with loads of fabric because big chest = big belly to them and not much in 'tall'.
Save up and get something made for you.

Dammit...you're just confirming what I thought/have found. Maybe someone somewhere knows...

The "wait and see a tailor" is the approach for my jackets...though I do have one off the peg that randomly fits me (and as a bonus was cheap, presumably cos it fits no-one else...)

aP - high and mighty have exactly one lanky-fit overcoat, and it's black. Might do, but not ideal.

Wolsey and Nicole Farhi coats are reasonably fitted waists but my arms are not massively long though. (6ft 1 40in chest 29in waist)
Not cheap though.

High and Mighty sell overpriced crap-quality clothing to the VERY tall and the VERY portly. I used to pop in to their shops on a regular basis and never bought a thing from them in years. The OP is unfortunately on the cusp of tall which means little people clothing is mostly too short but tall people clothing starts proper at way taller.
Keep looking and you might get lucky. I once found an Aquascutum that nearly worked and a Crombie with pretty long arms. Pop to London and have a walk down Jermyn St as a start.

I'm in the same spot - the very top end of normal. Curiously the sales seem to be the best time to be looking. The exact same clothes/shoes that are never on the rail or the stockroom the rest of the year mysteriously appear on the sale rail at the end of the season.
