Hey all.

I need to get a tow bar fitted to our Land Cruiser - 2011 60th anniversary edition.

Toyota have quoted over £1000!

Any recommendations for a cheaper installer would be great fully appreciated. Based in Dorset.

Cheers.

I got mine from here - https://www.pfjones.co.uk/

They find a local fitter for you. Removable Westfalia with a proper Merc fitting kit - was less than £600

Ambrow trailers in Christchurch are good.

Has it affected the reversing sensors for any of you?

Mine is removable so no. When I have the bike rack on I need to manually switch off the rear parking sensor, but it’s no big issue. All the other coding elements work well - the car knows when something is connected to the electrics and prevents running in eco mode etc.

Thanks Shoes. I was wondering about removable - it’ll only be for a bike rack & camping trailer, so that might be the way to go.

My VW has the proper connector module and disables start stop and rear parking sensors plus changes the gearbox shift pattern the minute that you plug in to the light board socket and the bulb failure system also picks up trailer board failures.

Wouldn't risk clip in wiring!

From posts above it seems some manufacturer modules may be more comprehensive than others.

I think mine is a Westfalia - no cuts in the bumper and nothing visible when not in use. Takes a minute to put on / take off.

Ambrow Trailers get the job - they have a superior electrics package, replacing the loom rather than just clipping in, so the car will recognise it is towing and switch into ‘tow mode’. Good price, too.

Thanks for the suggestions, all. Much appreciated.
