How complex is the room ?

10% wastage or more if its a complex room

Worth noting that stuff is shite , i have it ín the spare room, looks good but shit to lay. The click system isnt good. At least use a rubber mallet.

couple of question:

1. Can you wait until the almost inevitable 4 for 3 offer after Christmas?

2. Will you be fitting it right away or leaving it for 6 months until you get round to it?

3. How easy is the space you have? ie nice and square/rectangular or lots of nooks and crannies? And how much of a full board width will you lose in having to slice the last board?

If you are fitting right away then buy plenty and return what you don't need.

Work out the size of the room allowing for the width of full boards, ie a bit bigger than your actual room and then work from that with a healthy allowance on top of say 10% or 2 packs in your case.

I did my flat living room and hallway (36 sqm) and ended up with not even a single full board remaining and I think you could barely make 2 full boards if you pieced together all the little bits. I was sweating a bit at the end and then cut the wrong end off the last full board...fortunately I could shift the whole row down and fit it at the start instead.

I used the Quickstep stuff (B&Q sell it, got it on 4 for 3) and it is pretty good.

Slight hijack, but the two designs I've fancied for front room are not 'splashproof'. What does that actually mean?!

Buy more than you need, at least 25% and then take back (full packs) what you don't use.

Its for the whole ground floor so its not one room

Then work out the size of each room and add 10% wastage.

I got the quickstep stuff, fairly good to install, but keep an eye on the grain effect, we've got a few boards that have blemishes that results in the grain being smudged. I noticed them before completing the room but decided it wouldn't be that obvious so carried on. Its not obvious but I do notice them every now and then...should've put them all back into a pack and returned them as faulty.

Do you know its graded? 1 is total Sh**e . 6 is industrial.
Don't laugh but B&M stores have some quality grade 5 laminate and its a lot cheaper than I can buy at some of my trade places.
+ its nice to lay.
