Looking for recommendations for a house/cottage for 4 (wife and in-laws) somewhere in the Lakes in early September. Must have at least 1 decent food pub within a mile, though a choice would be better. Not too set on a specific area at this stage but not far from the mountains. Whaddya know folks?

I'm guessing it'll be a bit like bikes ( even in September)

Get it booked pretty quickly

Look at Sallys Cottages. We've used them a few times recently and they're good.

We quite ike Barton Hall Farm nr Pooley Bridge. They have a few cottages of different sizes, good riding from the door, bike storage, take dogs, pubs short walk in Pooley Bridge. Very welcoming, been back a few times and going again this year.Part of the attration is their largest cottage can fit in all our kids and grandparents too (plus two dogs).

Our default place: The Troutbeck Inn

They've got three self-catering cottages behind the pub. The pub is brilliant and the food is top notch. Nik and Alan who run it are lovely. You're half way between Penrith and Keswick. Ullswater and Aria Force falls are a walk from the door. The riding from the door is ace too.

We're already booked in for the next bank holiday and for a week in June when the pub is back open again. They get booked up fast. For good reason
