Anywhere good nearby to wildcamp in a campervan?
The dead end road that heads to the footbridge into Portinacale seems popular with cheeky campers.
If you want something basic, very cheap and quiet the site at Low Lorton is ideal.
Decent pub in the village too
The site in Lorton IS the pub - The Wheatsheaf. There's a bigger site across the river too.
Herdwick Croft caravan sites takes tents and is at the bridge at the bottom end of Bass.
I meant the site 400 yards from the pub over the river
Very quiet, facilities are basic but a nice place to relax
