Bit of a long shot but has anyone travelled by foot or public transport between Kirkstone Pass Inn and Troutbeck? There seems to be a few buses but I'm just exploring options if I miss the last one. Is Uber Available or is it a doable walk along the road? Thanks
It's a long walk.
I've caught the bus from Brothers water to Troutbeck, then walked back over the fells (pre-Covid times)
Can you reverse your plan and start with the bus journey?
Is this at night-time/will you be pissed? Otherwise would have said the walk was a decent option. But not along the road, why not walk the FP down towards Ambleside and then up and over Wansfell?
To Ambleside would be mainly downhill, and you could walk along the road from there if you were too knackered for Wansfell.
(I take it this is the Troutbeck near Windermere, not the other one..)
There aren't many buses on that route but there are a fair few taxi firms in Ambleside and Windermere (although not used one for about 15 years). If you ring one they'll probably quote you a price. Off peak it may we'll be cheaper than the bus. Last time we caught one in the Lakes a few years ago it was £3.60 from New Dungeon Gill to Chapel Style! Took the bus as the 3 year old was too tired to walk back. Have planned better and sucked up parking costs since.
