It's almost funny really, I mean I know how contentious he has become on here and really I'm not posting to try and wind anyone up (though obviously it will).

So in the spirit of genuine good will please accept my offer of tea and biscuits and  in tonight at 10.45pm on BBC One.

Make sure you have enough kleenex in and watch where you put the water bottle.

Not posting to wind anybody up (though it probably will)

I won't watch it but I'll stop back in later to offer other people's opinions on what he said.

What are you planning to do with the biscuits?

How anyone could think that bloviating **** some sort of intellectual is a complete mystery to me. On the other hand at least they shitcanned Banks.

I’m on holiday. Can you record it for me?

Previously I’d thought the bottom of the QT barrel was being scraped with Joey Barton, who was actually quite funny. Not an accusation we’re likely to be levelling at JP.

Did you miss him on a Five Live the other week? He was in a gym in Moss Side talking about masculinity. It was insightful stuff. If you’ve never watched 24/7. Apparently boxing teaches you discipline and channels agression....

who knew?

I did hear that and funnily enough I thought of you at the time. I wondered whether if you heard it would might not warm up to some (and I stress the word 'SOME') of his ideas, specifically his sympathetic approach to otherwise denuded working class men who struggle with unemployment and the corresponding lack of purpose and value associated with that experience.

It's his lack of sympathy outside of his target customer, sorry audience that undermines what he says.

Ironically i used to box in that very gym GT, when I was younger. I was refreshingly un-disaffected though. Poor me.

Have you watched the film 24/7? What hes saying is hardly groundbreaking stuff is it? That getting disaffected yout’ into boxing teaches them discipline?

Shane Meadows made the point a couple of decades ago but I don’t think anyone has been referring to him as some intellectual visionary? Though he’s considerably more to say, in a much more coherent manner than JP

Never heard this person speak so shall be tuning in with interest this evening.  Will I need anything stronger than a cup of tea though, bearing in mind that I have an intolerance to men spouting bollocks?

Well I guess we can all agree that he says lots of novel and valid stuff. Only shame is the novel stuff isn't valid and the valid stuff isn't novel.

It’s almost funny really

More tragic than funny that you have to continually remind us that you have been taken in by a shyster that everyone but you can see straight through.

You know, I don't think we need a separate thread every time this bloke draws breath.  Go use the old one, I'm closing this as a duplicate.
